Something is still terribly wrong with New World and certain GPUs!! BEWARE!!!!!!

New World is still causing havoc causing more RTX 3090 cards to brick themselves. This time its not EVGA cards that are dying…

  1. Hate to be the one to say this but after reading through some of the comments there is a common factor..

the entire 30 series gpu line up.

I'm not hearing about 10 series or 20 series failures.
I'm hearing nothing about AMD gpu's.

I'm running a 1080ti with no issues in New World.

I made a comment in game that my gpu temps are only 40 degress while playing the game.
Many with 30 series cards thought I was kidding…I'm not. They were all reporting 70-90 deg temps in game.

There is a common factor, and I don't think it's just the game, but I do think it exposed a problem that was already there.

  3. hey jay I know this is not new world that I'm going to say but I been running a MSI GeForce RTX 3070 Gaming X Trio I was playing the latest doom would get 300 or more fps but I played other game was Skyrim it had a lock fps on I unlocked it now if I play doom on same fps it will blue screen now just reset I put the fps on 144 of my gpu work fine now = on other game fps works fine with none of that happing and on new world can't get more then 100 fps maybe 120 fps haven't had any weakness playing it maybe 2 to 3 crashes at this time that will to home screen i know you said that maybe said fps can't kill gpu but what if the lond on the fps was going up and down like 50 fps to a 100 fps on big lond i know in NVidia control panel can change the refresh rate of your monitor to go past the fps or not that there something in there that can and i did just put to so if it works my max fps to 58 and that works

sorry just putting what i find that work for me on other games that i had weirdness on but my card might be damaged but nothing was happed to it from then so i don't push to past that

sorry don't normally chat on comments on youtube plz take what i said with a pinch of salt plz no hate

  4. I have an EVGA 2080 Ti SC and I have it OCd via MSI Afterburner. When I an in que for New World my core clock would pegged at be 1965mhz and the GPU would sit at 74 to 76C for hours. I took your advice and removed the OC profile and I limit the game to 720p 30 for when I'm in que. Now GPU sits at 1350mhz and 39C on que screen.

  5. >RTX cards
    >mainly 3090's
Ampere has had nothing but problems since its launch so yet again I will say it: this was the worst generation since Fermi. If nVidia wants to keep hiking prices they need to fix their shit. HORRIBLE thermals and power draw, nonstop problems, poor performance uplift to cost. The only thing Ampere had going for it is the fact multiple global problems caused massive global shortages to the point where literal e-waste that doesn't even power on is getting sold for hundreds of dollars on ebay "as-is not working" and people actually are buying it.

That is what Ampere is up against: we will buy literal garbage for hundreds of dollars. It's the only reason it's not been utterly savaged next to the alternative of AMD. This is clearly not just Amazon's fault regardless how scummy of a company it is considering I haven't seen 6900XT owners having this problem and it largely seems relegated to 3090's. I feel like every month it's something different. If it's not POSCAPs bricking it it's some game bricking it. If it's not bricked expect some other issue to start happening. It's not just bad value even at MSRP, it's the fact overall quality and different performance metrics are down everywhere to the point a last gen midrange like 5700XT beats their 3060, so even at MSRP to pay the same $400 this year as compared to last year you get very marginal performance uplift, and that's about the only comparison I can even think of where Ampere looks more efficient.

I don't think RTX 4000 series will suck. But I do think that Turing and Ampere both completely sucked. Even if the game is really horribly coded it still says something that for the first time I can remember, a card is literally catching on fire because of a game running, which again does not inspire much confidence when you're talking about the consideration of overclocking a 3090 which as I said almost a year ago is already up against the wall on OC ability anyway. I think the better option would be to go from Maxwell to Pascal to RDNA to RDNA2 tbh and given we keep having new issues pop up like your $1500 MSRP unable-to-obtain-under-$2200-if-at-all card can catch fire just booting up a game, well it's not really inspiring much confidence.

  6. I'm running a 3080 FE with the Pad Mod on an MSI x570 Taichi 5900x. Running as a KVM in UnRaid. 3440×1440 60Hz. I set my power limited to 90% on my card. So far I'm not seeing any issues. Locked at 60 everywhere I go and I am watching afterburner and see no issues. Has anyone noted it happening in any specific areas?

  7. I have a evga 3090 and i downloaded the game after the release day on steam. My GPU is now dead, no overclock, no other settings touched. I was running a custom loop. Now im hoping i get my RMA. This is so unfair

Twice got black screen and fans speed up to 100%, when first time it happened it was doing some crackling sound. I hope it was just a fans and not condensers or anything else :S Well I didn't wait till the end to check what going to happen next, so I've shut down my pc immediately. I've noticed that this issue is happened to me only when I was in a queue, and never during the actual playing time. I've decided to set rivatuner to 30 fps during the queue time (GPU behaviour is steady without constant clock, power change etc.), no black screens yet, only once get some strange black flickering for a sec then it disappeared. Also GPU behaviour in game is a bit strange, for some reason in some certain locations (cities and not only) GPU usage going down. Correct me if I'm wrong because I'm not an expert, but I thought that if game got loads of graphical processes happening all around it should increase GPU load to perform better and not otherwise, but for some reason it lowering power consumption and GPU usage. Because in a locations when it actually hits GPU load close to 100 I have a good fps.

  11. Space Engineers had a similar issue, the game's loading screen would go into a runaway state with its FPS, sometimes hitting 200-300+ FPS, i don't know if it KILLED cards but it was a problem big enough for Keen to issue a patch. I don't remember why they said it was happening but your explanation helped a lot.

  12. Another example of software killing hardware: I've had Just Cause 2 cook the vRAM on my Radeon HD 5850 back in the day. Thankfully xfx replaced it for free no questions asked

  13. New world wasn't the first and won't be the last. Had the same problems with the following early access games when switching from windows 7 to windows 10:
Scum, Zompiercer and the new Icarus Beta.

  14. I have been playing NW no problem. I have always undervolted my GPU even before NW without any loss to the performance but better overall temps. Uncapped fps, everuthing very high settings, max temp my gpu saw was 63C Strix 3080. No crashes.
