For the Handel book, Susannah Cibber was the actress who was one of the original soloists for the Messiah. The Sea Captain is Thomas Coram who created the Foundling Hospital. The opening of the Foundling Hospital featured a benefit performance of the Messiah.
There was an amusing TV movie (in the 90s) of this period of the life of Handel featuring Simon Callow as Handel.
