Zax lays out his weapon tier list for solo leveling in New World. This list doesn’t take PvP or group content into account, so pretty much just killing mobs by yourself. These opinions come from a ton of testing in the open beta, as well as a ton of research into potential builds further into the game. Leveling is 100% do-able with every weapon anyway, so just find what you enjoy most and have a good time!

just picked this game up to play after a friends recommendation from beta, appreciate the info!
I ran hatchet and fire staff in the last beta and had a lot of fun with the combo. Those heavy melee weapons seem nice, maybe I'll level with heavy axe and life staff for launch.

Thx, surprisingly we share many of the same opinions over these weapons and their usefulness soloing . . . I guess its crazy to basically solo level in a PvP focused MMO lol . . . and I like your laid back here's my opinion approach.
Great axe is s teir in everything and hatchet is A teir and only S tier for solo
If I go berserk with the hatchet do I get damage boost with just the hatchet or with my secondary as well

My personal favorite is Ice Gauntlet I use the turret mode style gather up 4-5 monsters and kill them all lol. AoE is nuts

It's quite clear that he barely played with any weapons and didnt even look into armor traits for each weapon… read fire staff aoe skill mana restore perk and check refreshing pillar. Then just got gud… infinite aoe spam… that just melts everything. In both pre and pvp…
