Taxi driver and father of four, Ivan Skyba, was one of a group of Ukrainian men defending their suburban street near Kyiv at the start of the war.

He narrowly avoided death after being captured with his comrades by Russian soldiers as they advanced on Ukraine’s capital.

Along with eight of his fellow captives he was led to a courtyard where Russian soldiers opened fire in a cold-blooded execution. The other eight men were shot dead in an atrocity that prosecutors are treating as a war crime.

Somehow though, Ivan Skyba survived by playing dead.

  2. Mariupol was established as a city for etnnic Russians on the site of a Cossack village in about 1791. Mariupol was named after Russian Queen Maria Federova of the Romanov dynasty. It's indirectly also true that Putin created an atmosphere for NATO pact group to expand from 2003 onwards. He never protested vehemently. Liberia, a country of  deported African Americans located in the north Atlantic zone  should be made a member of NATO group in exchange for 500 billion dollars in aid from NATO. A pact is a peace time agreement to help form an alliance during war. While America was busy in the last couple of decades declaring publicly that  all white countries are brothers of America within NATO group, in  parallel: Russian federation was reaching out to African nations. The moron in the story is Putin, believe it or not for allowing NATO in 2004 to declare publicly that Russian Federation is the common enemy of the world and of the rest of Europe. A normal politician in his place would not have allowed NATO to declare that Russian Federation is the common enemy of the rest of Europe back in 2004. That was how North Macedonia received lots of money from NATO heads, by declaring publicly in an oath ceremony cum joining ceremony that Russuan Federation was the common enemy of all other Europeans and the rest of the world in an oath taking ceremony while joining NATO pre-war pact. Putin sez:: "I have nothing to lose if North Macedonia declares publicly in exchange for millions in foreign aid and membership of NATO aid club that Russian federation is the enemy of the world and Europeans. Only Ukraine is in a position to successfully ask for one trillion dollars in aid. All that will come to nothing as Ukraine has been full of ethnic Russians and Cossacks from well before 1783, the year all corners of Ukraine came under Russian Federation. (Ukraine mean multi ethnic Borderlands of the Otyoman empire) outside of Kyiv came under Cossack rule. Kyiv the earlier capital of ancient Rus kingdom came to Russia from pisdibly under an earlier dynasty, pre- Romanov dynasty king of Russia in 1667.   11. I need to preface what I'm saying with this is absolutely a tragedy and is a war crime for sure. And the people responsible should face consequences.

    So let me get this straight. These brothers fathers cousins nephews joined to fight not having any military background whatsoever. But knowing full well what war is. There's no doubt in my mind that these people know what Russians do since world war I. And they full well know what they were walking into. So they get caught after Ukrainian forces obviously abandoned eight of them to defend their town. Which is a suicide mission in itself. I mean you got eight guys up against the Russian army with tanks and thousands of guys come on now.

    So they get caught and they know they're being led to their execution okay, but yet they don't do anything in their final moments to possibly get their life back. If you're going to die anyway you might as well fight back. You fight back with everything you have. Every last muscle fiber every last heartbeat. You fight. You jab them in their eyes, you bite them in the throat. You do whatever you have to do. And if you die in the process well at least you went down fighting.

    I would rather die on my feet, then live on my knees.

  16. This is similar to what the Turks did in Cyprus during the 1974 invasion…they would take Pow's, ship them to Turkey….never to be seen again….murdered or imprisoned…..
    …Civilians were rounded up in streets…and im talking men…woman…and children…..and executed by the Turkish army during its invasion of Cyprus….
    The Turks ETHNICALLY cleansed the invaded part of its original ihabitants….all 200000 of them…

  32. After this, there were never anymore survivors. I'm sure by then,they've realized they left one alive that they're gonna make sure to put one at the back,after the round up. I pray for you all, and condolences to all of the victims immediate family.

  34. This has been repeated hundreds of times by the Russians, with tens of thousands of civilians killed. In Mariupol it is estimated to be 20,000 or more. It is difficult to watch Russian combatants being killed, the youth of Russia wasted, for what? Even so it must be done, but the responsibilty lies at the door step of the Kremlin. Slava Ukraini
