  1. I'm glad you mentioned the attribute softcap. I tell new players to stop at 40 for most attributes unless you need it for a weapon or spell. I say this because it starts to get expensive to level up and you need to balance your character. having 10 more points in dex isn't going to do much but 10 more points in vigor will help you live longer. a few points in health can be the difference from getting one shot by a boss and surviving long enough to heal.

also, the ruins are very important, especially the one at the start. it drops the basic whetstone which lets you move your non elemental ashes of war to different weapons. so always always explore ruins. plus they have some good early game talismans.

the map is extremely useful. you can tell height, so you know if there is a cliff or not. you can see the minor Erdtrees, ruins, churches, mines (which have upgrade material) and all the big important locations. it helps with exploring so new people, please actively look at your map.

Some tips for people who are struggling. He mentioned that you can out level content to make it trivial which is very true, but some other ones are. If you power stance (which means you dual wield) or 2 hand grip a weapon, you will do a bit more damage but more importantly, you will do more poise damage. this will interrupt enemies. if you power stance or 2 hand a weapon and do a jumping strong attack. it can decimate their poise. some end game enemies you can just stand in front of them, jump and strong attack. you will essentially stun lock them if done repeatedly.

Something else, if you 2 hand or power stance heavy shields, you will take way less stamina damage when blocking and you can shield bash to attack. so pump stats into endurance and strength for those thick shields and become a living wall.

  2. This is useful even after having played 50+ hours. You didn’t have to show the whole map though as I didn’t know how big it is yet :/ It is supposed to be a beginners guide, there is no point in spoiling that.

  3. Not gonna watch this but having a look at the timestamps this looks incredibly based. So tired of my youtube being spammed with guides like "HOW TO BE SUPER OP EARLY" etc, its the cancer of modern video games.

  4. also i'm not sure but you may have to complete roderika's quest to have her acting as a spirit tuner. which is

    spoiler down below

getting the "crysalids' memento" item from godrick's castle (stormveil) and bringing it to her.

  5. Great info, thanks! I would love to see a video talking about the starting equipment and how it affects your start. I’m pretty new to this game and think I may need to restart my character.

  6. I want to add 3 things to this in detailed guide for new players.
    1) Dont Obsess over beating a boss. Tried 10 times and you never even got it to half life ? You will never beat him like that. Go look around get some levels upgrade your weapons/magic. then go back and melt that boss.

    2) And this is the most important part. Many complain ER , like all souls games, does not have an easy mode. That is not true !! There is an easy mode in this game its called summoning . Summons will make your fights 10x easier. There is a story mode in Elden ring as well . Its called Mimic tear ! Summon a mimic 10+ and sit on a corner as it soloes bosses on its own. You can , quite literally, watch bosses die as you do nothing. Mimic summon comes a bit later in game, but thats fine cause you had your other summons to take you there.

    3) Magic is really good vs most things in game. It will melt through enemies you would normally find it hard to go through. Especially when paired with summons it makes fighting bosses trivial.
As a side note it pays off to know what to build towards as you lvl up, so dont be afraid to look up builds online. It will make your gaming experience much smoother.

  7. Great guide for a game I will never play. I don't play Soulsbourne forced grinding games. Life is too short. I'd play if there was a settings switch to turn off/nerf all the bosses, otherwise, not interested.

  8. Definitely pick deprived class, the stat start is pretty good overall and you’ll be able to get good equipment by just exploring normally. If not any other class is viable; samurai and confesor seem extremely catered towards being significantly strong early on.

Everything for beginning a class is in the round table or on that first map as far as utility for a class (incantations, spells, dragon magic).

Get equipment up to +3 for the southern, eastern and first map. That will let you beat anything with a couple of hits.

Before running up to enemies and blindly attacking, scout ahead and see if there’s ambushes, traps or both.

Level up for the gear/magic you’re currently wanting to use, if you’re not sure vitality and endurance is never a wrong choice.

Use high ground and bows, most enemies don’t know what to do; cheesy but highly effective.

Don’t feel like you have to engage every enemy that appears on the screen, most times you’re able to get the item and not kill anything.

Walking behind an enemy is considered a silent approach, most magics and bows at a distance is also silent. any other sound like dropping, swinging sword, hitting an enemy or wall; all these actions can be heard by other enemies.

  9. 3:10 Morti, my man. Not E, if you see E turn around and run away from it. Scaling goes S A B C D E. In that order of quality. The better the letter, the better the scaling to your attribute.

  10. Did you play with keyboard and mouse or controller? If you did play with controller, which controller did you use? I'm still on the fence as far as trying this game since I'm a PC player and don't own consoles.

  11. I used a trainer and maxed out every skill level and am playing it like BOTW. Doing quests, killing bosses, and finding better weapons and armor. And yes I’m still dieing against some bosses. The open is very fun to explore since I can roll everything pretty much.

  12. It's minor, but that early game merchant outside sells 3 Cracked Urns to boost max consumables along with some simple crafting recipes for players interested in the crafting system. It can be handy for archer builds to keep the Shortbow supplied with cheap bone arrows.
