  1. Reminder that this is part 1 of the DBZ chat. Friday's video will dig into villians, fights, and individual characters stories (Goku, Gohan, Gotan, Vegeta, Trunks, Piccalo) as their character growth relates to those fights.

Also, sorry for any mistakes I made, I'm new and my first impressions may not be correct 😅

  2. Dragon Ball is an absurd, extremely fun story sprinkled with beautiful characters and themes and that's why we love it. It's not the deepest series out there but it's not trying to be, not every story needs to make us question our existence and morality. Now that you are finished with the main series, I would recommend the Jaco the Galactic Patrolman manga by Toriyama. It very much has the same goofy tone as early Dragon Ball and serves as a loose prequel to the story, I think you will enjoy it. Welcome to the Dragon Ball fandom 🙂

  3. Great video! Do you plan on reading dragon ball super? I like
many fans have my fair share of complaints with it but it did have some things that made me really appreciate it(like furthering Vegeta's development) as someone who's been a fan since he was 4

  4. I love that enjoy your journey through the original DragonBall run, it is a really fun, amazing story that a lot of people don't appreciate now a days because a lot of stories took inspiration of it and got to treat similar themes and arcs better but DragonBall as it is, still holds value and is very enjoyable. My favorite part of the story is the first half, the og DragonBall particularly Piccolo Daimao's arc, I feel it has the right combination of the adventure and silliness that came before and the seriousness and fights that characterize Z.
There's a lot more to enjoy of DB if you want, there's another series by the same author called Dr.Slump which is the completely unserious one, its characters and location appear on chapter 81 of DragonBall and it’s the first successful series of the author
Other silly stories related to DB are Nekomajin which is only 8 chapters and 3 mini stories, and Jaco the Galactic Patrolman which is a prequel to DB.
I know you are not an anime person but if you feel like it, I would recommend the 2 specials “A Final Solitary Battle! The Z Warrior Son Goku's Father Challenges Furiza” and “The History of Trunks” and I know a lot of people must have recommended it already but if understanding references is what you want, I would say you need to watch Dragon Ball Z Abridged, it is a very good parody.
WARNING! If you want to read Super keep in mind, the manga was conceived as publicity for the anime, so its pacing is weird and it skips and arc completely.
    HAPPY DRAGONBALL 39TH ANNIVERSARY!!!!!

  5. I know you're not much of a TV show viewer but if you ever did DBZ kai is the best way. Same exact scenes as the original but it's cut and edited to get rid of mot of the filler. Kai in this context means abridged. And to put this into perspective episode 98 of kai is the end of the cell saga. 99 goes onto buu. In the original episode 97 is the episode frieza attempts to destroy planet namek but fails to do so instantly. Plus if you're watching in English the kai dialogue is more accurate to the Japanese. But if you're watching to understand memes and jokes the original is the best way bc a lot of the memes and jokes come from how bad the dialogue is at times

  6. There is one fan made manga with Vegeta landing on earth as a baby instead of goku, it shows the whole story, (most important moments) but with vegeta as the protagonist, and it is amazing.

But, frfr, I started reading onepiece when you got caught up to it and just got caught up myself but I've been a long time DB fan. Glad you like the series and can appreciate it. Do you think Goku is a bad dad or not?

  8. Now that you 've caught up to series, I really recommend watching this video by Totally Not Mark – The Genius of Dragon Ball | The Anatomy of Manga. It talks about how Toriyama conveys the story visually, and is a fantastic video. Here's the link or you can also just search up the video as well.

Also, please do watch Vegeta's "Dragon Ball Z Abriged" moments, they are a fantastic time.
