  1. The healthier bread looks smaller but it is probably denser and if you go by weight, the white bread is likely lighter in weight. You don’t need a “seedy” to have a healthy bread. My kids prefer Oroweat 100% whole wheat bread but don’t like nuts and seeds in their bread. But they love a white potato bread for a treat. We focus on variety but the whole wheat bread is our standard. We avoid msg and high fructose corn syrup. If you research those you will learn why they are best to avoid.

  3. Just an FYI Yoplait yogurt is bad for you, it has aspartame in it. Anything with aspartame in it is bad for your health. This is why I only eat greek yogurt & I haven't had any soda's in 20 years. Looking out for your health! Love from California By the way a lot of gums have aspartame in them

  4. How about juicing for Jake? I have also seen receipe books for parents with picky eaters. Hence you are able to hide food they don't like and they don't know they are eating it. Sorry I don't know the name of it.

  6. whatever happened to what the parents say goes? kids eat what they are told or they dont get a snack. that rule worked for centuries. worked for my parents ,worked for my kids ect… kids these days are given to many choices with no rules. parents healthy example when buying only healthy snacks will be followed by kids healthy snack choices. your parenting skills are great you eat very healthy most of the time. your older kids show in life what they have learned from you and your husband . your younger children will follow !

  7. Funny story
as a 50 yr old, I grew up on white bread but I prefer wheat. So I switched to wheat. My kids only ever had the wheat or the honey wheat. However, we would grab a loaf of white bread to feed the ducks at the park (I know now it isn’t healthy for the ducks either). So, the kids spent the weekend at my mom’s house when they were little. They came home and said, “Nana feed us DUCK bread!” Lol

  8. Maybe the snack closet needs a mini fridge! Snacks (especially the healthier and less processed ones, which are more likely to need to be kept cold) take up so much room in the fridge. So it would help with that and it puts all the snacks in one place. Another idea (that would obviously be a bigger project) may be to install one of the salad bar type things, like Not Enough Nelson's have. Such a fun, smart thing to do with a large family! đŸ˜Šâ€ïž

  9. It’s also important to think about portion size! The nutrient labels may be similar but the serving size may be completely different. This may help kids and adults stay full so that they aren’t always hungry.

  10. I commend the effort with the snacks! I really do! It’s so awesome to see attempted changes. Starting with sugar is the best way to start. Americans are oblivious how deathly foods are, with sugar. As you saw, even what you think are “healthy” breads, are filled with it. You’d cry if you looked up the recommended daily intake of sugar for adults/kids, and see that ONE snack is easily 4x it. Heck. One drink at Starbucks can be up to 10x more. Once you make changes with sugar, start researching the ingredients on Google. Your stomach will drop to see what “Frankenstein” ingredients are in stuff like your family’s beloved Takis. Most ingredients in the US are banned in most other countries, due to proven affects, such as cancer, hyper activity, auto immune diseases, etc. Start small, with little changes like you are, and work your way up. It takes A LOT of time! You’ll get there 🙂

  12. Me and my sisters love Takis. The veggie straw brand you had has a hot kind as well. I really like those. You are still getting the hot kick, and it is seemingly more healthy than the Takis. I would give them a try as well. Also, I am sorry if someone has already commented about this.
