On this episode I continue with the ongoing restoration of this 1979 Kenworth W900A truck to turn it into a tribute movie truck to the one used in the 1977 classic movie Smokey and the Bandit with Burt Reynolds, Jerry Reed and Jackie Gleason. If you haven’t seen it yet, what are you waiting for??? “There’s no way that you can come from my loins…”
Picking up from last week’s cliffhanger, I start laying down the Nason Night Shadow Brown single stage paint. Spraying was going very well and the high-end spray gun I bought was working beautifully. However, right away it was oblivious that my hillbilly paint booth was not airtight, and dust and tree fluff was showing up. No big deal as we can buff that out later. Eventually, I got 2 nice coats laid down and I have to say it looks pretty decent. Once I let it rest for a while, I decided to take the booth down and let some natural light in. All in all it turned out pretty good considering I’ve never painted before and I had a lot of headwinds (inexperience, home-made booth, inadequate lighting, dark paint, etc). I’m sure the professionals out there will be happy to point out the flaws, but overall, I’m happy I gave it a try
Hope you enjoy the video and thanks for all the comments, suggestions, and support!
Keep in mind, I know a little about a lot but not an expert in anything … just doing the best I can, learning as I go … I do all my own stunts
Enjoy watching the progress of this Kenworth W900A project, the ongoing Peterbilt 359 restoration and the upcoming #IronDuke Kenworth K100 cabover I’m planning to build up like the one used in the 70’s trucking movie High Ballin’ with Jerry Reed and Peter Fonda.

Man it looks GREAT, and please don't worry about what someone else says about what you're doing because they didn't do it. 🤝🏾🇺🇸💪🏾👍🏾
That truck looks amazing. I can't wait to see the truck after it's done all.Wish you all the best.
Looks so good can't wait to see the gold stripes🤠
best to wet the floor down before painting be it still looks soooooo much better
Next truck water your floor before you paint it will lower the dust doing it in a garage. Great videos man love the trucks.
looks great
Nice job glad it turned out so nice gonna be sharp looking
The amount of work and dedication is impressive 👍
Hey Mark, As the saying goes " Far From Good, Good From Far." If They Notice, They're To Close. 😅👍 Nice Job Rookie😅👍 By The Way, Did You See The Pictures Of That Ol Kenny I Sent From
I don’t care what anyone says mark you did a great job don’t let anyone tell you otherwise and now LBL AND Iron Duke are going to come out even better
Looking good
Did you wet the floor to keep the dust down?
Keep up the great work 😊
Gonna have to wear sun glasses when you buff it 😁
Hey twin sticks please put some work on the Duke on you tube. I no you said to watch on patroon but really.keep going on you tube. Thanks freind.
I was trying to paint myself in my garage and a tip someone told me to help keep the dust down was to keep the floors wet. But the pro’s would know better.
Really impressive!
I was unsure I'd like the paint color but seeing it on the truck it looks good
You should wet the floor to catch the paint dust that’s what I did
cant tell if your paint is but i thought the truck was metallic and after half a video later it is. are you gonna do a gold stripe of some kind on the fenders around the bottom?
Good job
Hey Mark I'm deliberately staying weeks behind ya buy your doin a damn fine lower 48 job on er…Burt and Jerry would be proud! Your doin great so proud
You got your air pressure set too high
Are you going to do a giveaway for it
Nice job. Congratulations
You have lots of comments but I have to step in here to lol. I paint a lot of different things. But I wouldn't use single stage anymore without a professional booth. Base coat clear coat is my advise to any homeowner or DIYer. It's VERY forgiving and you can paint it anywhere. The extra coats allow TONS of sanding without effecting the paint quality. Great job for your first time tho. My first vehicle was a 66 ford P/U about 24yrs ago. Painted it Cadillac pink for my mother. It looked terrible. Kept working at it and I got it. But that BC/CC is exactly what you're looking for in a deep deep shine. Love that color too!
