  1. Being in the merchant marine during any major war between powerful maritime powers must be a death sentence. Truly, the Unsung heroes of logistics deserve a few good memorials. Rest In Peace, guys!

  2. My one thing I wish was an option was the ability to build obsolete hulls in later eras. Like sure, you can’t build a super dreadnought in 1906, but you should be able to make an older hull.

  3. I wonder if the sheer volume of 2" shells landing on the Italian BBs may have interfered with their ability to shoot accurately. All those rounds landing on the superstructure has got to be causing all sorts of crew casualties. At least IIRC, that is what happened to a number of the Chinese ships at the Battle of the Yalu in 1894. The Japanese cruisers present did far more damage with their secondary guns, while their main guns proved to have far too low a rate of fire and poor accuracy to do the damage expected of them. It certainly seems to my crazy mind anyway that that's why the French cruisers under the command of Capitaine Le Munro sank the Roma and sent the other Italian battleship packing. >;)

  4. It would be neat to see the older pre-dreadnoughts in action as convoy defenders.
These older ships could hold off the enemy raiders while the new faster dreadnoughts could come rushing in as a reinforcement vessel when a convoy comes under attack.

  5. Speaking about keeping these old pre-dreadnought designs around… Remember, there Greeks still have that old 'Armoured Cruiser' – https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Greek_cruiser_Georgios_Averof
It served through both World Wars and was never completely decomissioned! Yup! It's still on the Greek Navy lists today (if only as a museum)! She went through multiple refits even while she was still in active service too – Including getting things that were designed for much more modern hulls – Autocannon AA guns and the like. It never had a complete replacement of engines, and they were never even fully 'serviced' after the mid 20's though… So that aspect would be a bit more debatable (The "Pisa" class on which she was based had 'tripple-expamsion' engines, so I think the 'reasonable best' engine upgrade she could be given would be that later 'multiple expansion' type engines – with an boiler induction type). She also never completely replaced her main 9.2" or secondary 7.5" guns, though I think that would be more 'open' to change – She certainly did have some upgrades to her secondary gunner gear, including her range-finders.

But yeah, in my current 1900 Italian start, I'm going to try to replicate (or beat) that legacy.

  6. Dear devs: please stop mucking about with submarines and aircraft, and focus on eliminating target lock bug and improving the ability of the AI to design ships and command them in battle.
