  1. 25 hundred years ago, isn't prehistoric,it's not even close to the thousands of years, that the newer findings prove about Greek and Minoans. Greek history goes way further back in time, compared to what we thought it would. Every now and then, they discover advanced civilizations, under the known ones here in Greece, or on random locations. The last time I read on new archeological findings, they found 2 store buildings, with technology that can't be found until thousands of years later, yet that ancient Greek town, dates 3000+ thousands years, before the early Minoan civilization…Archanthropus of petralona Greece, dates back between 240,000 and 160,000 years old!

  2. Hello Gabriel,
    "Γειά σου, καλησπέρα"
As you early mentioned in this video, you are about to visit north Greece in a few days and my thoughts went on how great would it be if you ever have the time to explore our magnificent mountain Olympus! If it ever comes up in your plans, I'd be happy to help you out with some helpful tips perhaps.
Thank you for the amazing videos you are giving us..Wish you the best and safe travels!

  5. Rupert Brooke. Eng;ish poet. Died during WW1 from sepsis aboard a French hospital ship off Skyros. His grave is on the almost deserted southern part of the island near the restricted area of the Greek Naval base.

  6. Prehistoric means before written historical evidence. So it is different for every place. In Greece this is up to and including Bronze age until about 1100BC. Others define it as the period before the Archaic period, so up to about 800BC.

  7. Fascinating video of the island. Seems very mountainous. Stay safe. Are you going to try to go To Athos peninsula with the Monasteries on the peninsula, when I was there only men allowed. fascinating place and you stay in the Monasteries. Kind regards, Diarmuid Long. 8. I love your 🇬🇷 videos. I am a little curious about so little people around those beautiful islands. Is it because of the Easter holiday, or is it a low population? Seems like no one is at home, no people walking or doing errands.

  9. Hello Gabriel. I'm following you for a long time. Have you ever had a wish to visit Athos? You can hike there to the top of the mountain and you like to research Orthodox churches.

  11. Hi Gabriel, I am so fascinated by the absence of people in these immaculate towns and churches.
They are so well maintained and the plants in pots etc so lovely and cared for. Where are they? Who maintains the gorgeous little churches.? Gretchen

  12. That cistern is the remains of a building. Most island houses had a cistern at the basement and a second floor. The roof colects the water. The opening is where they used to take the water out, while the hole on the ground probably for allowing backet to sink.

  13. Amazing history and amazing beauty, I have to say that Skyros is one of the most appealing islands I've seen you explore, makes sense as it is harder to reach and likely off the beaten path.

  15. Gabriel, when you finish your Greek Island tour this year, I would like you to give, if you can, a ranking of where you would like to spend a month just decompressing, hiking, reading, etc., away from tourist shops and cruise visitors. Skyros looks like a good candidate, but maybe there are others. What I like about Skyros is that one could fly to Athens and then just fly to Skyros and unpack.

  17. Skyros was my first Greek island ever almost 10 years ago and I have very very fond memories of that place. I had spent 2weeks there-5 days and then another obligatory 9 days to heal from a scooter crash I had on the island. It was the most beautiful place to heal and I did a lot of meditating there. Definitely check out Atsitsa Bay if you can. Also check out the beaches by Skyros Palace hotel. Much of one side of the island has very choppy and big waves but the other side by Atsitsa and also Skyros Palace has very very calm lake like waters. You’ll absolutely love it!

  18. Hi Gabriel. Long time watcher and you have influenced me to travel myself. I am currently taking a travel year and am near you in
Greece. May I suggest the island of Syros (not SKyros). It is a good change of pace and my 7th island on this trip. It has Venetian and French influence on its architecture and has amazing alleys, squares and churches. Highly recommended.
