In 1988 a 35 year old man named Ivan Lester McGuire, a sky-diver of Durham, died in the bizarre accident, McGuire was a very experienced veteran of more than 800 jumps, and aspired to be the best sky-diving photographer in the country. Mr McGuire, a veteran sky-diver, was filming above North Carolina as he fell 10,500 feet to his death. but how could this happen to a veteran of over 800 jumps.Well believe it or not, In his excitement to film other sky-divers he apparently forgot to wear a parachute. police said after seeing footage taken by a voice-activated camera attached to McGuire’s helmet during his final free fall. Capt Ralph Brown said he was ’99 percent sure’ after reviewing the tape, McGuire was not wearing a parachute, it also appears McGuire did not realise he was without a parachute until he reached for his ripcord. after realising he had no parachute, he then said.
