Skull & Bones reminds me a lot of Rebel Galaxy, another game where you play as the ship 99% of the time, and one of my favorite space sims overall.
I would also point out that Elite Dangerous, which for a long time was considered one of the best space sims, for the first 7 years of its lifetime didn't have on foot gameplay, only ship gameplay. Ironically, when they did introduced on foot gameplay, the game saw a major dip in the player base, partly due to how buggy it was, but also how disappointing the overall gameplay was. It also led to a major split in the player base since they couldn't get Odyssey working on consoles, leading them to ditch their console player base.
With the mention of the mini games, ED Odyssey also had some very awkward scanning mini game during its beta stage, which was so disliked the devs just outright removed it for the actual release and now you just scan with the press of a button. By the way, if you really dislike the minigames in S&B you can actually disable them in the settings, becoming more akin to Skyrim's mining: press the button & then watch the animation while you get the resources. Also works for picking locks.
I played it.. It is boring.. The travel and combat is slow.. Its clunky.. I prefered the trade route part of the game and even that was a bit confusing.. There was nothing to track where you saw the trader that would buy the commodity for a better price.. It just wasn't fun.
Hear me out… it’s not a terrible game. It’s not for everyone, but because it’s boring for you doesn’t mean it’s a bad game. Dude advocating for it clearly doesn’t understand how it works.. especially if he’s only buccaneer. Endgame is fun but is repetitive and lacking quality of life features to make it more fun. Same with trading, same with resources… it’s all fun but when you’re talking about buccaneer rank looking to upgrade, but once you get to the top what is my reason for continuing? It’s got to be more than a leaderboard, or I couldn’t care less and that’s all it is at this point. It reminds me of Destiny 1 at launch. Fun to play, but you’re constantly asking yourself “what am I gonna do next? I guess more of this… for no reason…”
I wish this game was something other than it is, or atleast had more focus on endgame without letting future seasons fill those gaps in gameplay.
I’m sorry your guest had no idea what he was talking about. Most Ubisoft content creators don’t, though… tbh
This is my go to game. Over 80 hours in and I can't stop playing. Very addictive. So much fun blowing up other ships. Your first 8 hours are free. I'm betting you'll get hooked.

I think this is best on sale and I guarantee it will be soon 😂
Love the episodes with Kirk, like the energy and different takes he sometimes brings. More Kirk please!
I've been enjoying Skull and Bones quite a bit, actually.
Kirk is pretty awesome, love seeing you guys do shows together.
They didn't really think of what we wanted. We wanted ac black flag 2 with a Odyssey size map with more of black flag.
Maybe this game will take some time to grow. I do like the graphics tho 😊😊😊

I think skull and bones is more like Eve online, you control the ship
The best and the most objective video so far, thank you, like anything else in life, some people like it some don’t, I am personally enjoying S&B
