Hey yβall! Where can I watch this movie? Itβs sounds really interesting.
Is nobody going to acknowledge the sponsor plug??πππ this dude is so funny
People who wanted βThe Conjuringβ hated it. People who enjoy horror concepts and just wanted something fresh from the box office loved this. I donβt know why Shudder and IFC Midnight thought this could do okay in theatres, but Iβm really happy for Kyle and the rest of the team that worked on the movie that it did.
I went to see it in theaters with my mom, but by that point we'd already seen it once at home. We were both unsure of it in the first 30 minutes or so with the slow start, but once you've seen it the beginning doesn't feel so slow anymore. I also love how the director sent people on what is potentially a wild goose chase by saying there's one scene in the movie where there's ACTUALLY somebody standing in the dark. I find that hilarious.
Also since I mentioned my mom at the start: she loved it, too. She was born in 1980 and me in 1998, but I think the interpretation of being a child and having these safe spaces in your house is an easy thing to bleed into anyone's memories. Her husband didn't like it so much. He actually walked out of the room for the last half hour when we watched it at home.
I think mom's bipolar or major depressive disorder.
Hmmmm… seems silly. M3gan was much more innovative and left me s
peechless

This movie sux. All they did was take autism videos and put a horror twist on it…look up schizophrenia and autism training videos…bottom of the barrel people!!!
You lost all credibility brother wendigoon
I had a moment when I was in my 20s, not even a child, that kind of felt similar to your story, but perhaps without the terror. I was home with my mother, sister and brother visiting, and I'd gone to bed fairly early while the others stayed awake since they're somewhat night owls. Later I woke up to the sound of my dog absolutely howling her head off, which I'd never heard her do before, and go to turn on a light, but nothing happened. The entire house was pitch black, and I couldn't find any source of light anywhere, all the while with my dog continuing this howling. It was such a bizarre feeling that for a moment I thought I was having some kind of lucid nightmare, so I clenched my nostrils and blew my nose as that's what you call a "reality check" for people who lucid dream. I discovered I was awake of course, and just found my way to my dog and calmed her down and stuff. Eventually the lights flip back on and my family comes back home because they just went to get something to eat since there was no power. A fairly mundane moment really amplified by just being in darkness. I wouldn't say I was scared as such, just that for a moment it felt like reality had shifted.
Ok so Iβve returned after watching the filmβ¦ so I picked up on like half the things you talked about in the video on the first watch. Despite that, I still found it scary as hell! Regardlessβ¦ thatβs not what I came here to say. I just wanted to let you know that I love your passion for the scary and disturbing. Iβve found it difficult to find people who describe themselves as Christian and also have a passion for the macabre. I have to commend you on your analysis of the topics you cover because you describe their gravity without skewing them with personal beliefs. Youβre the prototype of what people should look to when itβs said to be in the world but not of it. Keep up the good work!
I'm fascinated by this movie, but I think it crossed a line we shouldn't cross in what it did to the kids.
Stay off my YouTube account or God in Heaven will destroy you like He is destroying Taisha Gaines who stole my android and put you on my feed
Had to wait two days to finally have some time set aside to really digest this one. So excited for this one π
I surprisingly liked the sponsor bit
It feels slightly comforting knowing so many other people have had that childhood experience of waking up alone terrified of what should be a safe place.
I myself had it happen multiple times from the ages of 3 to 6. I lived in a two-bedroom home and shared a room and bed with my older sister. The bedrooms were on opposite ends of the house so you would have to walk through multiple rooms to get to either side. I can recall times when I would wake in the dead of night to find that my sister had left me to sleep in our parent's room leaving me all alone in the pitch black in a bed that felt to my young mind way too big and empty. I can only remember maybe once when I just stared into the darkness crying and wishing I could just go be with my family, but the idea of walking through the dead silent and dark house was too much for a child with my wild and vast imagination. I would just bury myself under all the blankets and stuffed animals we owned hoping that whatever lurked in the dark might not see me and that sleep would claim me once again so that I might see my family in the light of the morning.
To this day I still keep many blankets and stuffed animals with me at night so if that fear ever tries to come back for me I might be able to keep it at bay till morning when I can see clearly without the fear of what lurks in the dark.
At 12:46 you show Kaylee going upstairs and turning on the light. But at 14:10 you said they couldn't reach the lightswitch from being so short. I love this movie but that's not right.
The phone in the dark really gets that feeling of the shadow in the corner of the room really well. I compare it to the scene in hereditary when the basketball falls off a shelf after we see his sister in the dark
I tried to watch it all the way through, but I was frickin SCARED!!
It's on Shudder my dudes!!!
When I was about three or four I was going trick or treating with my mom. My siblings are ~10 years my senior so they were already gone doing something and my father wasn't home yet. I was getting ready, putting on my costume and that's when everyone had left. My mom was in my parent's bedroom putting on a costume and my siblings had left while I was busy. I walk out to try and show off my costume when I realized I was all alone. I go from room to room looking for my brother, my sister, calling out for my mom and I couldn't even look outside to see if my dad was home. For all I knew I was abandoned and alone.
I was very upset, not crying yet, while I sat on the couch waiting for someone to show up and save me from being alone. I heard footsteps coming towards me and at that point I was terrified because I had convinced myself I was totally alone in the house and whoever was coming toward me now was a stranger out to do me harm. It was my mother, only it wasn't my mother as she had put on a full witch from the Wizard of Oz style costume on. Imagine being that young, thinking you had been abandoned by your family and a literal witch comes out of nowhere to get you. I was mortified and couldn't look my mother in the eyes the event scared me so badly. I wouldn't allow her to even speak to me until she had taken off the make up (full green face and everything) to prove she was my mother and not an actual witch.
That's my first time experiencing the dread of being alone. The second time came while I was in the grocery store with my mother while I was probably five or six, maybe a little older. It was just one of those things you experience as a child where you get lost looking at a toy or clothes or the back of a cereal box, whatever it might be, and you look up again and your parent is gone. I'm sure anyone who's had that experience knows just how scary that can be. My parents were very strict with the "stranger danger" rule and how people would kidnap you so when I found myself in a whole store full of strangers I was nearly in tears. The worst part was that I didn't have the thought to ask anyone at the store for help because I thought that everyone was out to get me. Needless to say, the stranger danger rule put more stress on me as a kid than it did to protect me.
skinamarink is the scariest film iβve ever seen
Small things like the boy saying βmommyβ and βcan we watch something happy?β after being beaten absolutely messed me up. My childhood was rough and I remember asking to watch shows and movies I liked after being traumatized. It shakes me to my core.
Take mushroom and watch skinamarink 100% die
I like the movie, tought was pretty good and loved the way captures you with the constant suspence on it, just dont liked that felt way too much like a Mandela Catalog short.
The hole thing felt like the first person perspective of what must be being dealing with an entity, and the creatures slowly taking over the entire family, specially with the tv and the mom, and at the end just assumed the kid got finally capture to "hell" or whatever the creatures of Mandela Catalog take their victims.
It bothered me some that looked pretty similar to it, but knowing is a youtuber and not some hollywood hack taking free ideas from the internet, like others did with stuff like Slenderman or ideas of the SCP foundation added to Stranger Things, made me feel better.
Highly recommended movie, even tought the tittle make it a lil hard to search.
the movie sucked could have been a 10 min video on youtube who the fuck thinks a 2-hour slide show is a movie
Dude. Iβve never heard anyone explain anxiety disorders in such a way, even without explaining exactly that. βBeing afraid in a place you shouldnβt beβ. Itβs not even just a thing with children, thereβs a lot of people who have this. Man, kinda messed me up.
Iβll watch the rest later, itβs too late for this sort of natural paranoia
Wendi got that thriller detective π΅οΈββοΈ drip
Zaddy π
What a crazy experience to remember all that during such a movie, insane..
This might be a bit of a stretch, but what if the monster that was being depicted in this movie was an 'alternate" from the Mandela catalogue? Since it seemed to take the form of their mother somehow? When i noticed that the demon/monster might have taken the form of the mother, its the only thing i could think about
id never be brave enough wo watch stuff like this without the calming presence of wendigoon xD
I enjoyed a lot of the more active visuals of this movie, and quite frankly, the premise is a 1:1 scale of my nightmares.
THAT BEING SAID: There is absolutely no way you can convince me this movie needed to be 1 hour 40 minutes long. It's painful. I don't care if it's supposed to convey a sense of prolonged dread. It's a detriment to the viewer's experience.
If this was cut to be 20-30 minutes, I would have liked it a lot more.
Man, I like weird horror but this was awful
bro really dropped his best 8 min intro β β
decided to watch the film before watching this video, will provide updates on my thoughts as I progress through the film.
1- off rip the sound design is great and unnerving
