Singapore Airlines Economy or United Airlines Premium Economy?

Our family is wrapping up a 3-week, 11-flight trip in Southeast Asia, beginning ending through Singapore. As we head home, we’re flying Singapore Airlines into Changi and flying United back out. Obviously, we’re curious to see just how these two airlines stack up. As Premier 1k flyers, United definitely has our loyalty, but everything we’ve heard about Singapore’s flight experience has us wondering if there’s a better way to travel into and out of Asia. So let’s get checked in… and check it out.

ABOUT US.

We’re the Lockwoods: a family with 3 kids, 5 careers, and endless passion for adventure. Two years ago, we decided it was time for Phil’s ad agency to abandon the in-person, 5-day workweek. So they 86’d the office and work hours, allowing our own family to start traveling almost constantly. We now work, school, and explore in a different place every week—from our own mountain and beach homes to exotic villas, resorts, and yachts around the world. As we experience and support diverse cultures, we hope to inspire more families to design a life of freedom and adventure.

Because there’s a new American Dream. It’s one that’s void of templated expectations, templated career paths, templated education, templated families, templated homes, and templated lives. Freedom is no longer an American tagline—it’s just the new, global way of life.

Every day that you spend doing something that doesn’t fulfill you to your core, you’re living your life on pause. You’re deferring genuine family time with no guarantee that there will be a tomorrow or a someday. Some people follow that mentality their entire lives. We’ve chosen to never live that way again.

We appreciate you following our journey. The more our channel grows, the more time we can spend traveling to more locations, contributing to these cultures, highlighting local businesses, and sharing inspiring stories from these communities. So please consider liking, commenting, and subscribing so that you can stick with us for the long haul.

  1. Goodbye Guys! Hope to see you guys again on January when you come back to the Philippines, I can say you guys had a lot of fun, also if you visit again, I suggest going to BGC when you land, and if you guys will stay quite longer, I suggest going to Pangasinan (Salt capital of the Philippines). There are a lot of delicacies to enjoy there Specially in Binalonan, they have Garlic Longganisa (its more of a sausage that has lots of garlic in it.) And the best here is Papaitan which is Goat insides that are cooked. A message to the kids, Keep enjoying your life and always be happy and positive, listen to your Mom and Dad. The experience they are giving to the both of you is an experience that is a must have. You can use those experience since you guys are learning about culture, wishing you both good health and happiness.

  2. I booked my flight with miles through United to Singapore with layover London with United then I do fly Singapore Air to Singapore. I’m definitely loyal to United I strayed for a bit got a different credit card that gives me a bit more miles but as I tried to use for a fight end of January it sails I had to wait for the next year to see 2023 flights. Not worth it at all. I’m back at only United.

  3. This would have been a better comparison if you flew SQ’s premium economy on the A350 to Singapore and then back on United’s 787. But overall, SQ is a much superior airline.

  5. I used to fly to the U.S. about once a year. I have flown both Singapore Airlines and United on economy and business class. Singapore Airlines is by far the better airline, especially the quality of service. Singapore Airlines have always been voted as a top ranked airline in the world. Neither United nor any other U.S. airlines are ranked anywhere closed to Singapore Airlines.
