Well, Seymour, you are an odd fellow, but I must say you steam a good ham.

I vastly, vastly underestimated how many episodes Superintendent Chalmers was in, going into this project. He's ending up getting the longest Simpsons Histories vid (so far) because he played a key role in so many random Simpsons episodes. Ended up leaving a bunch of stuff on the cutting room floor to keep this thing from going 35-40 minutes long 🤣
(Also this ends our run of Simpsons Histories vids. Probably an Extra Seconds next.)
As a Jewish person myself, maybe I can answer about Chalmers relationship to Judaism.
Gary himself may not be Jewish. However his wife Rosemary may have been (even though Rosemary is not a Jewish first name). Being a Jew is passed through the mother, which would make Shauna Jewish herself (regardless of what she actually believes), and Gary is just being a good dad by honoring her heritage by giving her a Bat Mitzvah (and also honoring his late wife). He could be raising Shauna in an interfaith home, which is becoming more common in todays world as interfaith marriages and households between Jews and non-Jews are becoming way more common. So he could take her to synagogue on Friday night/Saturday morning because that’s what his wife would’ve wanted, and on Sunday morning they go to church. In this scenario, his rationale would be he’s giving Shauna an education in both so she can choose for herself.
I’m still holding out for an episode about Leopold
Frank Grimes had no reason to exist since Chalmers already did his thing.
I nominate Wendell Borton and Richard and Lewis Clark. They give me huge side character energy just like Janey. Richard doesn't even have a surname!
Do Lindsay Naegle
I think the joke with steamed hams is that its one of the worst bits in one of the worst episodes of classic simpsons. Its so bad people made memes about it which made it funny.
Just discovered this guys channel, props to TheRealJims! Mans been uploading consistently for 15 years and has seemingly been making consistently good content the whole time! Respect.
there are a lot of Jewish people who are also athiest/agnostic. It's part of the nature of it being an ethnoreligion. Now, that doesn't make his mocking of faith necessarily make sense, but it's not a complete contradiction, either.
the Super Nintendo Chalmers line is one of the funniest Simpsons jokes to me
My favorite Chalmers moment is when he got his Honda H stolen and Skinner tried replacing it with a Hyndai H.
11:28 Aaaaand Doctor Who is being distributed on Disney+ now.
Well, you're right in at least one thing: Nothing will ever beat Steamed Hams… 😂😂😂
I have a question … you're crazy! 😄
I always saw Superintendent Chalmers as the more "stereotypical" boss character to use for gags related to dealing with your boss compared to Mr. Burns. Mr. Burns isn't just Homer's boss, he's a evil billionaire corporate executive, and there are plenty of jokes you can make with that alone, to the point where being Homer's boss almost feels like an afterthought sometimes. Chalmers feels more down-to-Earth in comparison, though admittedly, I had a hard time gauging his personality outside of his relationship with Principle Skinner until I saw this video. This is why I love your Simpsons Histories videos, Mr. Jims!
Its time for Disco Stu
Super Nintendo chalmers
supernintendo chalmers
humanity, sure, he's a regular bmo
funny, i once heard a term for a character whose attributes become increasingly prominent to the point of overshadowing all of their other qualities, whatever that was, but i suppose something like that would never happen on this show
Superintendent Chalmers should become the boss of Principal Greedyguts from Jacob Two Two.
Supernintendo Chalmers
The Simpsons continuity is coo coo bananas
I dont think he struggles with his faith. He works in public education and has a no-nonsense attitude towards it. I think he's just really aggressively against any tiny aspect of religion in his schools because he knows what a disaster it would be if he let that happen and it got out. It's the manifestation of the separation of church and state through his characterization
chalmers killed skinner's heat..skinner used to been a force to be reckoned with, now it was lapdog comedy when he is with skinner
I'd bet money that he is Catholic, but his wife was Jewish, hence why the daughter was having her bat mitzvah, because she hates her dad, but loved her mom
My favorite line by Chalmers outside of steamed hams is "Oh Skinner i have had it with this school – the low test scores, class after class of UGLY, UGLY children!"
Super Nintendo chalmers
“Why is there fire coming out of that channel Seymour?”
To be fair, he could just look down on the concept of religion in school.
Don't remember where I've seen it but I agree to the fact that Chalmers and Skinner are literally becoming an adult, mature version of Bart and Milhouse
class after class of ugly, ugly children.
this video just makes me want a skinner video
Following the law is not anti Christian as you seem to claim by pointing out that Chalmers fired ned. Good Christians follow just laws. And protecting kids from religion based discrimination is just.
WHERE IS THE ZELDA MUSIC!? Oh, there it is… it came in later than I thought it did…. 5 stars. gold stars.
god damn you're so ace at this. what a vision. what a realized vision. you are godsent as in "he did unto others…."
if there is a heaven, it will be filled with you'se types. Smart people who have enough of a heart to care about the feelings others have from experiencing their embodiment…..
SKINNNNNNER!!!! YOU'RE LIRED!
13:50 -No..the Simpsons just made yoy care about Chalmer's relationship with Shawna through a bootlegging metaphor. This may not seem that different but for the Simpsons, a weird and unlikely meathod is the assured one 100% of the time.
You forgot the part about his identical twin brother who lives in Quahog as the policeman which is surely canon and not just some shit they made up
I hate that you count the modern seasons as canon.
I fucking love Chalmers. Also, Sneed.
Leopold sighted
Super Nintendo Chalmers!
Supernintendo Chalmers is one of my favorite Simpson jokes
His kid is just a bad seed.
Maybe Chalmers remarried
You misspelled Nintendo in the title
i think chalmers and skinners should make out
steasmed hams
48-49-50. Flags up to date.
"It's always the children's fault, isn't it, Seymour?"
"Yes. Yes, it is, sir."
