Shove Vole Farm Nr.2 #shorts

Luma’s Shove Vole Ranch Nr.2: This is a design for WILD Shove Voles and WILD Shove Vole Eggs.

Thanks to all the amazing comments from the last few polls
I put together 4 different designs. All of them are starvation designs that don’t need any food at all (links at the end of the Descriptions).

Nr. 1 Shove Vole Ranch for wild Vole Eggs
Nr. 2 Shove Vole Ranch for wild Vole Eggs & wild Shove Voles
Nr. 3 Shove Vole Ranch for tamed Shove Voles
Nr. 4 Shove Vole Ranch for tamed Shove Voles + Incubators

Farm Nr.2 explained:
Wild Shove Voles take 60 cycles to lay an egg.
A wild egg need 20 cycles to hatch.
A WILD Shove Vole lives for around 100 cycles even if they don’t eat.
If they die they drop 16,000kcal of raw meat each.

Giving you free calories for no effort at all.
You just have to be patient.

I recommend getting all the Shove Vole eggs from the Printing Pot you can get and trowing them in to the rest of the farm.
Also DON’T let the body temperature of a Shove Vole reach anything between 60 and 100°C

BECAUSE: Since there are now Delectavoles in the game Shove Voles have a 2% Chance of laying Delectavole eggs. And if held in the above mentioned temperature range this chance is rising!
That means in the long your shove voles will be Delectavoles for a while.
As long as they are still wild they wild replace themselves with an egg.
This will probably be a regular shove vole egg again but can also be another Delectavole Egg. But if tamed they CAN NOT be starvation ranched like the Shove Voles. Meaning you will be loosing Voles over time. Hence: replace them / stock them up with Printing Pot deliveries.

Also I now have Memberships on the Channel!
There you get posts about new creations, contraptions videos and so on earlier than the rest.

Shove Voles can’t traverse a water tile if it has more than 350kg of liquid in it.
They also can not dig through metal, very hard tiles
(like obsidian, diamond and steel) and pneumatic doors.

  1. Still pissed they Klei decided to ruin voles. Luma's mod series makes it clear they have PLENTY of awesome things they could make standard … But noooo…. Can't have nice things.

  2. I just had a single metal block floating, didnt noticed water also stopped them from walking 360* around the block, noted.
Wild farm is way more worth than tamed ones, they eat WAY too much regolith and need a lot of other stuff to survive (break the natural tiles etc).

  3. Fantastic video as always. Can’t get enough Luma!

If you do this design again, maybe you should show how to be able to increase the number of voles with a breeding ranch. Just a thought!

For anyone wondering, the metal tile that the voles are standing on can be replaced with obsidian if you don’t have metal refinement.

Also, you can surround build with tiles and doors, since voles don’t get overcrowded.

  4. Ranching the most harmful critter in the game to get a meat lol 🤣

Actually tamed Shove Voles with starve ranch is kinds of OP when considering the facts that groomed critters lay egg much faster then a wild one, (born – lay a egg – death cycle at starving is much faster so get boosted calories) But still this seems viable option for the one who don't want to tame those nasty bastard haha

I personally never ranch Shove Voles too, I just immediately kill them as soon as I spot them and crack all the eggs in sight. I rather use Pip planting exploit to mass produce free foods than eat a meat from harmful critter XD
