Owned a C4, C5 and C6. I looked at the C8, but Chevy could have done better with the interior. After many years of crap interior. Chevy still does not understand or get how to make the Vette a true competitor.
Sorry guys, but the new Vette looks great, but it is still seriously lacking, when it comes to the interior. Do better Chevy and I might trade in the Porsche 911 C4 for a Vette.
Want to see the gap open even wider? Put them both on a track with curves, that's really where the c8 shines anyhow

I love My 98 C5 and wouldn't trade it for the world.
Now I want to see c6 and c7 vs the c8.
Would be good to get a lap time comparison to see the other really big difference of the two!
And for only $65,000 more that the C5 (yes 65k MORE) you can own the C8
C8 is ugly. And the front end sits way to high like an SUV.
I’ve seen stock LS1 C5s make 500 crank HP with just Cam, Longtubes/Full Exhaust, and a good dyno Tune. The LS platform is still a potent power plant. A mild LS build with twins will easily make 1000-1200hp.
How can a C5 be that slow even at high altitude? 15.5? Stock is 13.7. Should be maybe mid 14s at worst
I think a stick c5 would have been way faster than a 15.5 in the 1/4 mile. That’s pretty embarrassing for a c5 guy myself.
I find it funny out of all the corvettes they chose a targa top C5 corvette to compare to the C8. That’s how you know the c5 is the best the nostalgia still hits
15 second quarter mile?! I don’t think so. The C1 corvette did 15 second quarters in the ‘50’s! The C5 does 13 second quarter mile’s stock all day. Bad video.
C5 should have been a manual for this test.

The C8 was produced for the newer generation. I personally think they should have kept the engine in the front. But to each their own.
Just buy a Charger. A c8 owner hates being beat by 4 doors. Pahahaha

when I get a Vette. It just need to have Android Auto. so for me that means nothing older than a 2016
31 class victories in ALMS (with 4 team championships, 4 constructors championships and 3 drivers championships) for the C5 with three class wins at LeMans and one overall at Daytona. They also sold a quarter of a million of them. Big shoes to fill.
I'll keep my C5 Z06 simply because it's not automatic. You can't beat the feeling of a perfect heel-to-toe coming up on a turn or banging through gears in a street pull. There's no feeling with an automatic. You just put your fat foot down and the computer does the driving. The C5 will make you a better driver plus f**k dealership markups. The C8 was supposed to be 60k
That c5 was literally slower than my GP GXP
for the amount of money of a C8 I would rather buy a C5 and a built engine and transmission and the brakes to match. Ohh yeah and turbos
Try a C6 Z06 next time
Call me old school, but I need a clutch and some gears to row. My C7 fits the bill.
