In this video, we’ll be discussing Star Citizen, a game that has missed every deadline and is considered one of the biggest misappropriations of funding in gaming history. Despite this, I can’t help but admire the fact that they are attempting something never done before. With games like Starfield on the horizon, we’ll explore whether Star Citizen will survive and what it means for the gaming industry as a whole.

  1. This feels like you really don't understand why we love this game. I have stood by SC while its been in development and there's no other feeling like it, yes its a buggy mess some times but its still a fun game to play. But hey, EvE was going to crush it before it got off the ground, and ED was going to beat it to the finish line. But now with starfield, its surly going to be 6 ft under. There is a reason we still back it and SC is not dead yet. The player count has shown no indication of it failing ether as with every new update there's more players 1.17 was an amazing patch and 1.18 needs a bit more work but as someone who is in love with Star Citizen itself, I don't care. Criticism is needed but saying its going to die because it keeps missing its deadlines is a smooth brain take.

  2. I bought a small starter pack for SC only and have enjoyed my time trying that game. Yes it has bugs and problems and I agree with some of the points you mentioned. I also play Tarkov hardcore because I like the mechanics, but I would rate Tarkov much worse in this regard then SC. I play because unfortunately, there's nothing fully like the idea behind Tarkov, although some of that is changing with their push for the more arcade-y style from COD.

My one issue with the video is that you seemingly have a bias for Starfield because of Todd. Yes, he made Skyrim which was a great game and Fall Out has a huge following (although that series was never interesting or fun to me), but you didn't mention playing Starfield at all. So at the moment, you're basing his "success" or "benefits" over SC from just hearsay or the very "vertical slice" issue you mentioned before unless I missed something in the video.

I also don't think the two space games are an exact match, but you never claimed that. Elite Dangerous as some others have mentioned is the closer competitor to SC and I and many others have left ED because of the problems of development which were smaller/more realistic goals. I guess for me it would have been more interesting to see that comparison. I just felt that you are really hyped for this game because of Todd and what you've seen. If there was actual gameplay, I apologize if I missed it.

  3. Another game that claims to still be in "alpha" (but is more stable and feature-complete than most launch titles) is 7 Days to Die. A Minecraft-inspired zombie survival game that has been in early access for over 8 years now. Development is slow, but all they would really need to finish it at this point is plonk in a story/campaign of some sort and call it done.

  4. "invest" implies you're eyeing profit. Star Citizen is NOT an investment. You're doing a video on star citizen after it just had fundamentally new tech released IN ALPHA (not even beta). Every long-time backer kinda knew 3.18 would f shit up bad. And guess what, most of us are perfectly fine with that for the time being.
It's like if BSG would announce they're working on tech that allows them to tie all the maps together into a single seamless world with 500 or more players per session, you'd expect that first iteration to completely render the game unplayable. That's what's happened here.

Seriously unfair because pre-3.18 the game was much, much more stable and was a slightly better representation of what the desired stability would be. Still not close to endgame.

  5. most common ground of showed titles for 16min were theyre "-jank" titles. from CPDR that made eurojank titles of Witcher, to Cyberpunk which gameplay was uncanny to FO4 an americanjank game.

  6. If you want Star Citizen with a normal traditional release, Elite Dangerous is it.

No ship interiors, bland planets, far reduced amount of ships to fly. Elite Dangerous people have been leaving to join to SC. (Source: reddit posts and friends joining SC)

Also you state other games will surpass SC, which is laughable. No one else has created that tech and tools and won't have the time to create them with the traditional model of game dev.

  7. G0AT should check out all the buried evidence that Hello Games got rid of when there game came out 😂 i think company claims need to be documented and held accountable. Even SOA Sony Of America president called out Sean Murray as a right coont

  8. 12:00 this is actually wisdom from Godd Howard. Starfield is a reimagining of a old old game that flopped because of the planet limitations in 90s game development. He started off as a developer but hes also the best worldbuilder for fantasy universes since Tolkien.

  9. Please don’t praise Todd Howard. Him and his team are ruining fallout and Elder scrolls. He is not someone you want to follow if you have a good conscience and want to make a good working game.

If you want to praise a GREAT dev go look at the development logs of “road to Vostok” or another good game “exanima”

Also. Funny you say Minecraft as a good example but a lot of people don’t know Microsoft is slowly ruining it. Many videos on YouTube explaining how. Very sad.

  10. This month Youtube just kept pushing contents of SC from those fancy youtubers and I was just about to invest a funder pack.
Your video came JUST IN TIME for me to cool my head down. Thank you. Your are trully the GOAT.

  11. I'm pretty surprised you didn't bring up Elite: Dangerous, especially since it's usually referenced when discussing Star Citizen. They've pretty much figured out how to tackle the issues Todd Howard mentioned, and they've kept their game interesting with community-driven story/campaigns that have been unfolding over the past few years.

  13. A spoon full of sugar helps the medicine go down. I started playing during 3.18 Star Citzen (truly a horrible patch for the history of the game performance wise) and I STILL am blown away. If you actually get in there yourself you'll see when it works why people like the game. I'm a starter pack Andy myself so no 100k investment from me.

Even right now, during 3.18.2 and XenoThreat event I'm in a full server and managing to do an hour of smooth bounty hunting around Hurston. Spoonful of sugar, and it tastes sweeter when you're new.

  14. The MOST fun recommendation from vets is to (currently anyway) just get a starter pack for $45-$70 and grind your way to in-game ships from there. Currently the only real money sink, buying ships. Almost all available in-game to buy and RENT and obviously you can hang out with others who have ships. Also free play events. Much more accessible than from the outside looking in.

  15. I play and I really like star citizen, but let's be honest the devellopement of Star citizen can be a mess. Patience is a Virtue i guess.

Advice don't put hundred or thousand of $ into a game, always check gameplay online and start with the minimum amount of money.

  16. I would love for starfield or literally anyone to give SC some competition. The sad truth is they wont. No one has the budget or is stupid enough to try.

  17. I’m just not sure why you are so intent on spruking Starfield – it has not yet released! It could be another Fallout 76. As for Star Citizen, the whales aspect totally turns me away from the game. I can’t help but feel the people paying hundreds of thousands are the true players and everybody else is just along for the ride. Nonetheless, I do not feel that it will be surpassed anytime soon as long as they still have all of the highly detailed and complex assets and models – no AI is coming along to replace them anytime soon.

  18. I only pay for early access if I like what I see right then. I don't pay for a promise. 7 Days to Die, Deep Rock Galactic, Space Engineers, Door Kickers 2, Necesse, Serious Sam Classics: Revolution, Squad.

No regrets for any of those games except Squad. Now it is a dumpster fire and a shadow of its former glory. But overall I had a good time with early access.

  19. I really enjoy your videos, but the editing style of this one really put me off. Especially the transition sound effects. I couldn’t concentrate on what you were saying for more that 3 seconds without being distracted by a whoosh or a ding.

  20. Yep, it's funny how I remembered some of these title:

    – Fallout76 – Todd Howard says: "16 times the detail" / "it just works" – And the result is… LMAO
    – No Man's Sky – Disastrous initial launch underwhelming gameplay
    – Cyberpunk2077 – Overhyped – Disastrous launch PR nightmare
    – Battlefield2042 – EA says: "Way ahead on schedule" – Guess what? LOL
    – Star Citizen – Never ending alpha decades of development hell

But at the end of the day, people will keep playing the game they really enjoyed. These games are "FUN" for them.

  21. Brilliant video. Real insight and so well put together. I am invested in Star Citizen at the $45 ship. Good enough and I enjoy seeing the aspirations of the game.
