  1. Honestly, the answer is yes.
Iran can block the Hormuz straight, through its proxies in Iraq, Syria and Yemen, can also block the Red Sea. That’s an awful lot of the worlds trade.
Add China and the sprattly islands that could intercept trade coming through the Malaysian straight plus increased relations with South Africa and you can see a pattern threatening the global trade routes.
America as powerful as it is, is overstretched, it’s allies should be taking a better share of the load, because if America falls, so does the rest of the free world.

  2. I heard the last kettle onboard diamond broke and us brits just can't operate without tea (as you Americans realised and took advantage of haha), so she going back for a new Russell Hobbs unit. Probably to replace somme missiles too but that was way down the agenda.

  3. The problem with Iran isn't that Iran will hit continental US, they are incapable of striking that far. Their main issue is their annoyance towards western interest in the region. A minor local pest issue.

  4. 😵‍💫🥴😵 idk what they taught you in school, but IRAN pronounced ee-rahn ✅ not eye-ran ❌. it's not a new country Like IRAQ (🤠: I-rack). It has been Iran for thousands of years.

  6. 11:00 Considering how all these disruptions to international trade, as well as the issues with the Panama Canal are driving the prices of everything up as well as increasing tensions and making groups like the Houthi Rebels bolder…small wonder we're going back to policing the sea.

  7. All in all Iran is not really a serious threat to the US in a direct manner. Simlarly the US Navy is more than capable of looking after itself than the Iranian (or any other) Navy. The US does face a problem in that Iran is capable of degrading and destabilising things. Maintaining global trade is improtant to the US both direct and indirect. The US Navy and Centcom are doing an awesome job in Yemen – I only wish the UK had been more commited to the mission and deployed its carrier as well.

  8. It's interesting that (unless there's something I don't know) the F35 hasn't been involved I would have thought that it's radar would have been amazing at this situation in terms of using its sensor suite to find launchers and take them out rapidly. The fact that a frigate is replacing a destroyer is likely due to the small number of destroyers the RN has, that said the T23s (which are basically falling apart from old age tat this point) do have CAMM which is pretty good.

  9. Incidentally it's worth reading the article in The Economist this month about the Houthi – they've been weaponising aid in Yemen for ages, essentially only the West is keeping most Yemeni's from starving despite what you might be told elsewhere….

  10. World War 1 & 2, unmanned systems like USV's have been around since then in some form or another. The Italians used 3 modified speedboats to sink a British cruiser in dock while anchored, This has been a thing since long before the cold war. Wired controlled ground vehicle's were also used during the war's to varying degree's of effectiveness, wireless systems were still in there infancy during this time so they were used very little as a result. These kinds of tactics predates modern technology you should have seen what people would do with pigeons and pigs back in the day.

  11. No it's wasn't coincidence that HMS Diamond was recalled, it's was because she didn't have an armament on board and yes this has been confirmed. Did say we are having problems take the hint man, It's insanely disrespectful stop it. We don't save face in our armed force's that's an American thing.

EDIT: Let you know? is this a joke? You don't go and make a whole bunch of formally authoritative statement's in a definitive and conclusive fashion like that then follow up with well you decide, if you knew that the foundations for your claims were shaky at best you are suppose to lead with that to begin with when initially stating them. Making these kinds of distinction's are crucial in effective communication, it also shows a confidence that is required when it come to dealing with uncertainties.

  12. I assume the Diamond was due for home, and likely re-arm and maintenance after getting such a barrage of weapons, can't blame the Royal Navy at all for making sure the ship fully operational in clearly quite hostile conditions.

  13. Where the hell is the EU? These are the ships keeping them warm and comfy more than the other regions around the world. Maybe it's just me, but France has the best non-American carrier with a great air wing. It's not good ole days where we can support the whole world anymore. Our checkbooks are getting over drafted. We have millions over running our borders, and we are basically fighting an undeclared world war almost by ourselves. Somebody's getting screwed and I think it's us the taxpayers.
