Title:The Abyss
When the U.S. nuclear submarine Montana goes missing while tracking an unidentified object in the deep sea, Bud (Ed Harris), the foreman of the high-pressure submersible rig Heart of the Deep, receives orders to cooperate with Capt. Coffey (Michael Biehn) in a rescue mission. Surprisingly, along for the ride is Lindsey (Mary Elizabeth Mastrantonio), an oil company engineer and wife of Bud, who has been having a falling out. The three-man rescue team dives to the edge of the abyss where the submarine disappeared, only to find that no one on board has survived, and that an unknown monster exists in the depths of the abyss. After a series of crises, Captain Coffey, against all odds, decides that this is a Soviet plot and decides to launch a nuclear bomb removed from the submarine at an unknown enemy, so Bud and Lindsey team up to fight to the death. In the nick of time, Bud saves Lindsey and dives down into the abyss to remove the fuses from the warheads. After completing his mission, Bud’s oxygen has been depleted, and just at this moment, the monster of the deep reappears…
