Shadow Finance Minister slams ‘desperate’ Queensland Premier over nuclear plebiscite

Shadow Finance Minister Jane Hume has called out Queensland Premier Steven Miles over his promise to hold a plebiscite on nuclear power.

“This sounds to be a desperate lunge from a desperate premier who is at the last minute seeing the demise of a very bad Labor government,” Ms Hume told Sky News Australia.

“I think Steven Miles would do better to concentrate on his own failings and try and make up the difference to Queenslanders.”

  1. Plebicite is an interesting choice of words its ancient Roman. likening to some group of people in that region and i guess, how they behaved says here

a law enacted by the plebeians' assembly.

  3. No Labor premier will go nuclear and defy their Labor Federal masters regardless of the outcome of a plebiscite. Look no further than the "voice" result and the Labor premiers defying the will of the people by having a state level voice. Labor can't be trusted.

  4. Dutton has already chosen the locations for his nukes, and will seize the privately owned assets, and over-ride state and local planning laws. He'll ignore the wishes of the community, who have suffered coal fired power stations for decades, and are now expected to live beside nuclear power plants.

    Sounds like a dictatorship.

  5. QLD coal fired power stations have been run into the ground by the government, as they had plans to go full windmills for QLD and are going to require billions to update and keep them running in the mean time.
