Shadow and Bone | Season 1 Recap | Netflix

Orphan. Outcast. And the best hope for a world divided by darkness. Based on Leigh Bardugo’s worldwide bestselling Grishaverse novels, Shadow and Bone finds us in a war-torn world where lowly soldier and orphan Alina Starkov (Jessie Mei Li) has just unleashed an extraordinary power that could be the key to setting her country free. With the monstrous threat of the Shadow Fold looming, Alina is torn from everything she knows to train as part of an elite army of magical soldiers known as Grisha. But as she struggles to hone her power, she finds that allies and enemies can be one and the same and that nothing in this lavish world is what it seems. There are dangerous forces at play, including a crew of charismatic criminals, and it will take more than magic to survive. Also starring Ben Barnes, Archie Reneaux, Freddy Carter, Kit Young and Amita Suman, the Shadow and Bone Season 2 premiere date on Netflix is March 16, 2023.

  1. Ben Barnes brought me to the Grishaverse and I'm happy about it. The saga books are awesome. The adaptation is great. I am eagerly awaiting season 2.😉 I hope to know more about what Aleksander does since in the novel everything is written from Alina's point of view. Ben Barnes has so much to offer the role. Congratulations to the rest of the cast too and to the writers. Looking forward to season 2.

  2. Netflix, you got too cocky. We don't need you. We wanted you, but you gave us viewing blueballs by cancelling anything exciting after teasing us for an entire season. Without the flexibility of mobile viewing, you are nothing but crappy, overpriced cable. Netflix, this was fun while it lasted but unfortunately it's over. Honestly, I have been flirting with Disney Plus and HBO Go behind your back for a while, and they treat me blso much better. Forget "Netflix and chill", I'm looking for that "D+ and feel". Goodbye. And good luck.

  3. Cowards Netflix all of you, never fail to change the source material when there is no need for it, but here when it is needed you do not.
Darkalina i am looking at you.
Not to mention inserting the crows in for a quick money grab.

  4. Jessie can't act for shit but I'll still give S02 a try. If I see no improvements, imma insta drop this. This show already has many garbage performers but can't sit and watch the lead act like cringe-fest.

  5. One of the best and most beautiful series I have watched. Wonderful series heroes. A wonderful story. Photography, motifs and professional voices.
On my account, I advise Netflix to support this series by producing more seasons.

  6. Ok, which fantasy novel series should be adapted next? My votes:
Lily Quench – children series rather than YA I know but still good (7 books)

Rowan of the Rin – likewise children series but with some pretty scary moments in them (5 books)

Eragon – I didn't mind the movie that much but would be interested in seeing how else it could be adapted and if they'd be able to do the whole book series this time round
