  1. I agree with the immersion argument re: the yellow paint I just don’t care enough about it to detract from my experience. In Rebirth it isn’t even really present all that often and there are a lot of the more “natural” approaches to indicating what elements of the environment can be interacted with throughout the game

  2. toriyama's passing definitely hit me & am glad he went out enthusiastically bringing dragonball to it's pure roots. :3

geez i actually remember that prequel novel(thought more of that one for remake showing aerith & tifa's lives during the prologue.) when i was looking up more of final fantasy during the release of advent children & for dirge of cerberus would at that point just make a new game of vincent's story at that point/just give vincent more story in the remake with how they have the space to flesh him out.(like have vincent take on hojo's transformation by himself/sephiroth revealing his true past to him with how missed an opportunity it was.)

  3. I'm having trouble telling whether Yuffie returning the party's materia but slotting them in the wrong places is supposed to be a joke by the writers/developers or if remembering where they were before the sidequest started was too much to ask of a PS1 game.

  4. 3:36 honestly I wouldn't be bothered by this stuff if the original re remake implemented something way better, the whole objects having a shiny glint to make them stick out more.
Hell? If anything i would have tooken a page out of bioshock's book, make the items translucent and flicker to signify they are an object to interact.
Those games make that work because not only are the environments highly detailed for a time, but they also hid secrets from you to not make them so blunt, that's the part that bothers me, it makes secret items feel nonexistent anymore cause they are so blunt

  5. To get on the whole yellow paint discussion, it’s not a big deal **at all**, but it is funny they use it when they already have out of universe arrows pointing to every ledge you can climb on. It does seem a little extra to have both

  6. I was surprised Don Corneo died here. Usually a comic relief like him would survive and if we don’t see a body, it’d be assumed he lived

But nope, he’s gone. However in remake he’s alive and kicking because he’s a super comedy villain with much gesticulation

Reminds me of Kohga from breath/tears. He doesn’t reoccur in breath, and he’s said to be dead after you beat him,but he comes back in tears

  7. Did they remove the "Now, give me your women too!" line from Corneo's speech in this version of the game, or did it not show up because you didn't bring Tifa and/or Aerith with you?

  8. Oh I forget there was a “murasame” weapon. I thought that was Sephi’s weapon

And I had this cool Bakugan reference I was gonna make if there was a robotic sephiroth or a lightsaber weapon in the remake game

  9. This is super random, but has anyone ever randomly remembered how Eliot actually accidentally called it when it came to him having a divore.

I don't remember which episode it was, but it was during the 1st Mario Maker playthough and Elliot and Matt had a joke conversation of

Elliot: sounding tired Hello everyone and welcome to episode 752 of Mario Maker

Matt: Hi everyone and welcome to teh show, so Elliot how was your marriage

Elliot: in tears I got divored a few days ago (Johnny talking as Elliot) You promised you wouldn't bring it up.

It's actually insane how this happened.

  10. Xenoblade Chronicles did the climbable surfaces flawlessly. They all stood out but were also designed after the area they were a part of. Xenoblade Chronicles 3 did it the lazy Rebirth way, where they just made every climbable vine purple and it looked awful. I think a big distinction with the red arrows that you guys are ignoring, too, is that it's an optional, toggleable mechanic. It's not on the screen 100% of the game, you click a button and it comes on.

  11. Fun fact: if you de-equipped your Materia before Yuffie stole them, she'll still fill up all of your Materia slots when she returns it, only she'll do it in whatever order your list was.

  12. The thumbnail reminds me of the conclusion of Machinabridged Wutai arc,
Reno: "Before the Turks bring your pervert ass to Shinra, I've got a question for you. Do you think you could ever… fall for me?"
Corn-hole-o: "Well you're cute, but I can see up your pant leg that you only have one testi- AHHHHH"
    Reno drops Corn-hole-o

  13. The things they'd have to change to Dirge to make it worthwhile turn it into a ship of theseus situation so I'd rather they learn what went wrong and made a better game as something new, standalone without any ties to established game lore.
