I pretty much live in the S.T.A.L.K.E.R world, despite doing everything many times over. The AI is such that I still get surprised by stuff. For casual, I play Sacred 2, which is an ARPG I like much more than Diablo 2 because itโs an open world map and it has a lot of humor. Itโs not a better game than Diablo 2, I just find the huge open world more fun to run around in.
Witcher 3. Looking forward to the remaster.
Games I've 100%'d over 10 times for comfort:
Vampire: The Masquerade – Bloodlines (over 30 playthroughs)
Planescape: Torment
Deus Ex
Icewind Dale II
Vampire: The Masquerade – Redemption
I still play a lot of games, even though i completed Them – but to mention a few, then DOS2, DOOM series, Fallout (NV, 3, 4) Metro series, wasteland 3 ๐
I share a lot of these games with you that i still play, I agree with pretty much all the criticism thats been said about Skyrim and Fallout 4โฆ but i still play them constantly, Cyberpunk 2077 though i just really like, i just found very unfortunate the way the game launched and the horrible way the developer handled expectations, there was no way this game was ever going to live up to the hype.
Age of wonders Planetfall is a great 4x. Age of wonders 3 is a mechanically more simplistic game, but still very good and thematically much closer to heroes of might and magic.
As an aside, though I dont return to the game, I had a very good 100 hour playthrough with cyberpunk. I can understand why you might be disappointed with the game, but its certainly not a bad game. Unless you have a very strong preference for fantasy over cyberpunk settings, you can hardly claim witcher 3 is a masterpiece, and cyberpunk is bad. Aesthetics aside, they are very similar games.
Aah dammit I thought I might find something new to play from here lol nope anyway it's great list .
1. Dragon's Dogma: Dark Arisen
2. That's it I'm afraid…
No Fallout New Vegas? Aside from Cyberpunk and Diablo 2, I play the same games.
You deserve alot more subs like 2 mio atleast ๐
Cyberpunk is amazing. 1.5 made it the game it should have been at launch. I'm on my 4th playthrough and just can't get enough of its world and exploration. It's my new Skyrim, basically.
You can't 100% Skyrim, Todd made sure there are always fun quests to do for all eternity.
Cyberpunk is a damn good game. They just revealed too much stuff that ended up cut from the game.
I saw the disclaimer in the gameplay footage, but I guess a lot of people thought the disclaimer was a guarantee.
These top-down, isometric RPGS are always good for replayability; they aren't heavy on downtime due to cutscenes are chasing quests across a big open world, they don't get bogged down in dialogue and cutscenes, you never have to remember where you are in the story or what you planned to do when you come back after months away. There are plenty of games that I don;t have time to play because I play in bursts, a few hours at a time across the occasional weekend. These games would probably be amazing if I could ever get anywhere, but the Gods of Wars, Witchers, and other narrative driven RPGs require me to pretty much start over and relearn every time I wanna sit down for a weekend. Action RPGs are easy to pick back up quickly and put down just as easily
cyberpunk 2077 is unfairly crapped on.
Sure, the launch was bad, but it wasnt a bad game.
There are elements that were promised that werent there, but i thoroughly enjoyed it and i still plan on going back to it when dlc's come out.
Same with skyrim. The rpg depth might not be there, but the environmental story telling is unmatched.. and my dream game would be a hybrid of elden ring and skyrim.
The crpgs obviously are amazing. Dont know much about diablo 2 but i have played a lot of path of exile and i know its heavily inspired by diablo 2 so i totally get why its a game you would keep going back to. The only game on this list i wouldnt agree with maybe is fallout 4.
Solid list overall.
My 7 comfort games:
1) Diablo 2
2)Factorio
3)Rimworld
4)Warhammer Total war game series
5)Shogun 2 total war
6)Tekken 7
7)Pathfinder Wrath of the Righteous
So many good games…So little time :'(
If you enjoy ARPGs, please give Grim Dawn a try. Would love to see your review for it.
Ah yes I subbed since div 2 lore.
Love most of the games from this list. But my favorite games:
Alpha Protocol
Dragons Dogma
Vampire the Masquerade Bloodlines
Original War
Tyranny
Overlord II
Knights of the Old Republic II
A video on your favorite Skyrim/ Fallout 4 mods would probably be cool!
I always find myself going back to Final Fantasy 12. I have probably put about 1,000 hours into the original PS2 version alone. Once I got into emulation and I found English patches for the Japanese released version with additional content, I probably ended up putting in another 400-500 just with the international zodiac job system. And now with the remaster it's just a blast going in and playing that game with a bit of a fresh coat of paint with some minor changes done. I think I in total of probably put about 2,000 hours into the game as a whole throughout some of its various versions, self imposed challenges, and a randomizer mod for the remastered version of the game.
I was surprised Bloodlines didn't make this list, I know once a year you boot it up and I always do the same. With Bloodlines 2 a while away, it's kind of only game of its type at the moment, maybe Swansong in May will fill the void for a bit.
I don't 100 % any games but…1) Mass Effect Trilogy ( probably have @ 12 play throughs ) 2) The Witcher 3 ( just started another NG+ ) 3) Hearts of Iron Darkest Hour ( just went over 700 hrs ) 4 ) Fallout 4 ( with a bunch of mods ) 5 ) Deus Ex Human Revolution….Have a shit load of games…guess I need to break out and expand my gaming
I still enjoy Cyberpunk too. It is just fun to play and many of the characters are fun to revisit.
My favourite games are pretty much all that type of rpg though. Iโd have the ones I always return to as Dragon Age Origins, Kotor 1/2/swtor, the Mass Effect trilogy, Witcher 3, Cyberpunk and DOS2.
Even if I make it to 90 I'll still be down to spend 30 more hours in KOTOR and play Revan's storyline all over again.
Diablo II was my first AAA game I had. I loved that game so much! :3
I also play CP2077 and FO4 a lot, despite their shortcomings as 'hardcore' RPGs.
The gameplay and settings of these games really do a lot to make it more fun to be in the world, even if they are not as much of an RPG as their source materials where.
If you've never gotten into Path of Exile, i highly, i mean HIGHLY recommend it, because its objectively the best ARPG ever made. I tried to get into Diablo 2 but sadly it's way too outdated. Even Resurrected.
STALKER and CoH are always installed on my PC and just recently went back to my favorite MMO, Fallen Earth. Bethesda should never, ever be associated as being an rpg maker. ever.
I understand why there's so much hate for Fallout 4. They went from RPG to shooter. But it's still really fun. I hope they can bring back the RPG elements while maintaining the improved gameplay in the future.
I love CP2077 as well. It is my comfort game lately running around the world and kicking butt with different builds.
Games I always return to: Pathfinder WotR, Empyrion, Division 2, Fallout 4, Monster Hunter World, Dragon's Dogma, Mad Max.
I really don't get people who claim Fallout 4 isn't a good RPG. It has attributes, different builds, different play styles, choices that shape the world, and really good quest. How is it not a good RPG? I still play it myself on PC with the Magnum Opus wabajack modlist and love it. I like most RPG's and don't try to pigeon hole titles based on dumb criteria though.
Most of the complaints to be perfectly blunt are stupid. Complaining about the protagonist of a triple A title having a voice actor is just really dumb. I will never understand that as someone who is a big fan of some voice actors and their justification for wanting that is stupid too. Wanting their own voice in their head to be the voice? ๐ I can only shake my head at it. I felt the two voice actors did a really good job and challenge anyone to name constructively how they didn't. Especially if you have seen really bad VA before? Elex? ๐ They really were pretty decent. Not as good as Patrick Stewart in Oblivion or Sean Bean, but decent. Silver Shroud quest anyone? ๐
I really just can't imagine playing a game like Mass Effect for example and complaining about fem shep having a VA for instance. If you do? You might just have bad taste, honestly. I don't care to see what you like if you don't like that one. Or Horizon? Ashley killed it.
And I love CRPG's too, but one of the best ones for me was actually Dragon Age Origins. I felt like they took a good step in the right direction that no one has really matched as of yet for the genre. Then the rest of those weren't the same.
I usually come back to Skyrim or Fallout 4 every year or two. I mean, for a time, as I'll never beat the game fully. They're like the game equivalent of spending time with an old friend, very chill.
Baldur's Gate 1 and 2 and SoD.
I just broke 400 hours in WotR this past weekend.
Cyberpunk 2077 is great,
Cyberpunk 2077 patch 1.52 is ๐ฅ๐๐ฅ๐๐ฅ๐๐ฅ๐
IM so glad to hear that someone else still likes Cyberpunk 2077. Its such a good game, in a similar vein to Fallout 4 really. Gets lots of hate, but when you let all that melt away and just get into play its SO DAMN GOOD.
Mine : Pathfinder WotR, Path of Exile and Elder Scrolls Online
Cant wait for the console port of wrath of the righteous!
Would you be willing to reveal what your mic/audio set up is and what software you use for editing?
Yes, to all those games! Any Heroes of might and magic love, here? I keep going back to H3, since it was released (no mods) and I still find new fresh ways to go about it.
Hi I was just thinking do you think you will ever run out of crpgs to review? They dont release that many and you seem to go through games at a reasonable rate and there is only so many that have already been made. If you think that is a possibility how long do you think it will take ๐ค
