Sentosa cable car tragedy: A survivor struggles with trauma, 40 years later

Jagjit Singh was an 8-year-old boy on a Sentosa cable car ride with his family when a vessel struck the ropeway on Jan 29, 1983. He watched as the impact flung three of his seven family members out of their cabin into the sea 55m below, and left him and the others stranded for hours. Now 47, Mr Singh still struggles with the trauma, four decades later. He told us his story: https://cna.asia/3j5B3WH

  1. So tragic for your lost. Our deepest condolences and sympathy for your grandma and others passing. Stay strong and safe. At an older age, I avoid all extreme dares and try to avoid risky adventures. Live a simple and less hectic life after struggling for 50 years. God Bless..

  2. Literally teared watching this. Very painful to have recurring memories of incidents in our lives that are life changing. Memories of my own late father giving up his last spirit comes to me often. Thank you CNA for this video and Mr. Singh for sharing courageously your life and the struggle you still face till today. There are many who are touched and I am one of those who cherish your sharing. May you find strength and hope all the time and your family be blessed always despite this tragedy and trauma.
