Selling My SUPERCHARGED Z06 Corvette Because It's ALWAYS Broken

There’s always that one car… this was that car for me. Tucked away in the shop of the local Corvette guru was this 2004 Chevy Corvette Z06 that Procharger used to develop it’s kit for the platform. The car was previously featured in Vette magazine when the kit was complete, then tucked away for years. On the way home from LS Fest it started to make a pretty horrible noise, then it got to the point that I had to park the car. I’ve only driven it a couple thousand miles total and it’s making a noise that’s absolutely unbearable.

  1. JR living the life. Selling an awesome Z06 because it has a noisy tensioner. Here I am frustrated with a coolant leak on my 2000 Grand Caravan.

  2. Speaking of the shop looking good: If you don't have the cash to replace the insulation, what about painting it? Could you rent a sprayer and just put a glossy white coat over the top?

  3. I remember chasing a similar sound in my old 1999 LS1 Camaro, it was mostly stock. Put a new idler pulley on it, genuine GM/Delco part, squeak/chirp went away for a few months, then came right back. Pissed, I started searching on LS1tech and found a thread about this problem. Turns out the factory didn't put enough grease into the bearings. There were pictures showing you how to take apart the pulley and put some good old wheel bearing grease in there. Took off my new pulley, sure enough that bearing race was almost dry, greased it, slapped it back on and it didn't squeak for the next 2 years I owned that car.

  4. I come from a competitive cycling background and now in advancing age build high performance ebikes you can't buy at the bike shop. If you haven't ridden a 2000 watt ebike, you are missing out.
That Z06 was a very cool car and will be missed. As others have mentioned, Koyo is a reputable bearing supplier.

  5. It’s a given everything fails eventually yet when it comes to a GM product the G stands for Garbage. This message has been brought to you but a former GM fan who’s owned numerous GM products over a period of 30 yrs. My family and I now drive Honda and Toyota products and no way will we ever purchase another GM product. So long GM RIP !!!
