SECRETS AURA! This is Why it's The #1 Resort in Cozumel…

I want my $2,000 back! Yes, the beach is good, the food is great & the water is gorgeous, but…

Secrets Aura is the number one best resort hotel in Cozumel, Mexico, both in popularity and luxury. How? The only way Secrets Aura is the best resort in Cozumel is if it was the only hotel on the island of Cozumel, Mexico. I just stayed at this highly touted Secrets Resort for three nights during prime-time peak season, and, well, my trip did not go as expected. I was looking forward to a luxurious and relaxing weekend at one of the most beautiful and tranquil places in the Caribbean – but my experience was something out of the Twilight Zone.

In this video, I take you along with me for my entire 72 hour stay at supposedly one of the best all-inclusive resorts in Mexico, and one of the best all-inclusive resorts in the Caribbean. Every aspect of my experience is documented in stunning 4k Pro Res video, and along the way I show you all of the property, including the most exclusive areas such as my Oceanfront Suite as well as the Preferred Club Beach and Preferred Club Pool. This video will uniquely showcase one of the most beautiful all-inclusive resorts in Mexico and provide brutally authentic insights from a professional traveler that has stayed at over 60 all-inclusive resorts in less than two years.

  1. You want to see prestigious? For real?
Go to Costa Rica and stay at 2 (non all inclusive resorts):

1.) Nayara Tented Camp (stay in Titi 15)
2.) El Silencio Lodge and Spa

Great food, great service, amazing people and an epic country.

There are more resorts that we have experienced that are excellent at a lower price but these make Secrets look like a dump.
    You’re welcome, LOL.

  2. I do love Cozumel island its safe to travel and has some great places to eat and snorkel. I stayed at Iberostar which I know you would hate but it is affordable lol. The reason why its a Saturday to Saturday crowd is its pretty popular with Canadian tourists and the only time direct flights are offered to Cozumel is on the weekend typically Saturdays.

  3. My gawd: $700 a night for THIS?!!! Like, that's basically slander considering Encore's average daily room rate is less than that, or Burj Al Arab's average daily room rate is only several hundred more. 🙃🙃🙃

I will admit in the spirit of fairness the ocean waters DID indeed look breathtaking. Still not worth that price tag though. Glad you found a gem in Cozumel just before this place though. 😇

  4. Resort Pass – Cozumel is full of cruisers who get off the ship and live their best lives on a cheap day pass excursion to the resort. They are rowdy and rude and typically Americans who believe cruising is traveling. Last year while staying in PDC I booked a snorkeling excursion unfortunately the tour was a whole family from Alabama who booked the excursion through the cruise ship. It was a nightmare.

  5. I would like to know what the very old people were doing that was so far from what they should be doing at their age. If they were 30-40 year olds would you have mentioned their age too? Why was mentioning their age relevant? Laughing, joking around, singing, dancing, having fun? That is all you showed in your video. Was there more? Were they screaming and running throughout the halls playing ding dong ditch? It sounds to me that the issue is the placement of the pool near the rooms, not the fact that there were 50-60 year olds "not acting their age". There are people of all ages who love to travel, meet other couples and have a great time…which often ends up with noise.

  6. I'm all about the party pool unfortunately it was the preferred club members that made it the party pool myself I would joining in. I will have to dis agree with you on that beach I thought what a disappointment maybe in person it was better doesn't compare to other beaches around like the Playcar area .

  7. Love your videos so much James! We loved Secrets Cap Cana and it was very upscale and quiet. Could you please visit more Secrets properties such as Secrets Tides, Akumal, or any others? Thank you!!

  8. I stayed there in 2013 and it was bad even then. Lol. We booked a non preferred swimout room which was connected to a slide. That wasn't the problem, the room came complete with mold. We immediately upgraded to a Preferred Club room which was much better, but still older. And the crowd was funny, it went from a retirement home to Spring Break in a matter of days due to the cruiseship crowd 😂

  9. Hi James 👋
Sorry you had an unpleasant experience, but your positive attitude is always great to see.
I stayed in the Secrets Akumal Preferred Club, and it was amazing!!
Thank you for taking the time to make such great videos!! 😎👍

  10. Be detail oriented is not a Mexican business strength. It’s that way everywhere in Mexico. The general manager obviously doesn’t review his own property , he is responsible for this and he passes these requirements to his team from food service , room maintenance , etc. 700/ day is top tier. You earn that fail

  11. Yup , unfortunatly this kind of Hotels and resorts are more ,and more , AND MORE ,and it's everywhere ,not just Mexico. They sell to us so called "Prefered clubs ,VIP clubs ,Diamond clubs" and when they don't have all their rooms sold out they bring on the weekend LOCALS in for 25% what we paid for ,and those people like you said, acting like bunch of 15 year olds. More and more tropical destination don't have any more RESPECT for western costumers and that's fact.

  12. My preferred hotel in Cozumel is optional all inclusive, less than $200/night, has amazing snorkeling and less frills but amazing drinks/food. I've been to Secrets Aura for 10 days back in 2016 and we were not impressed. Also, it's a long ride into town if you want to explore. Cozumel has many great restaurants and bars and a lively town square, highly recommend going into town!

  13. James.. couple things.. First off..You said “ratchet”.. Automatic like 👍🏽 😭😭

Second..I feel like you.. I try not to be judgmental about crowds but as I’ve gotten older it gets harder to do.. especially when I spend big coins for a certain expectation of level of service and standards… I appreciate your honesty because I would’ve been ready to cuss everyone out because of that noise!

Thanks for another amazing review! ❤

  14. Main problem with cozumel all inclusives is there really is no demand for them from nationals and just barely some from international tourists…..so yeah they will all be way below quality vs anything on riviera maya or on pacific.
