Sec. Buttigieg responds to Marco Rubio’s call to resign over train derailment

In East Palestine, Ohio on Thursday federal officials spoke about what caused the toxic train derailment there three weeks ago. The chair of the National Transportation Safety Board pointed to an overheating wheel bearing as a reason for the Norfolk Southern railway derailment, noting that the crew had received an alert and tried to stop the train before it jumped off the tracks. The report was released as Transportation Secretary Pete Buttigieg was on the ground in East Palestine, getting a first-hand look at the damage, as residents from the community continued to demand answers. Sec. Buttigieg joins Joy Reid with more.

  1. On a related matter I just want to thank Pete for actually doing his job. He came to Colorado early on in his career and construction is underway to improve our I-70 corridor into the mountains. In 4 yrs never heard one word from Trump's DOT chairman about anything!

  3. Tucker Carlson is a FRAUD. Anyone who watches his FAKE show needs to have his or her head examined. Tucker's only role in television is RATINGS, so he will say ANYTHING to get them. Thanks to Dominion, the TRUTH is out. There's no putting this cat back in the bag.

  4. Don't let these fools distract you from the facts. They are talking about lack of safety protocol or Deregulation as if it was what caused this issue. The NTSB has already told us the cause of the accident in detail. It was a failed wheel bearing, nothing anybody could have done to prevent it. This was an accident plain and simple, so let's stop pointing fingers and do what we can to help the folks in Ohio.

  5. Rubio is the one that is a do nothing in my opinion. I didn't vote for him in 2022 and won't in the future either. Trump took away all these rules of regulations and red tape to keep our country safer, no one else did that. Rubio should question Trump, not Pete Buttigieg. If anyone should resign is Marco Rubio to be integral in reducing safety guidelines in the railroad business from that letter he sent to Pete Buttigieg.

  6. Trump said he loved uneducated people. Of course he does, and so does Fox. They know those people are not going to research Trump's deregulation. Softening safety standards put in place by Obama. Fox knows to cater to the lowest of the base by mentioning "white", and forgotten. And, to be sure not to report that the gop governor turned down federal help.
