Scruffy Plays Pikmin 4 – Episode 3

Pikmin 4 is here! And I’m recording my playthrough so I can chronicle my thoughts and reactions as they happen!
This episode marks the point where the game really opens up and truly blossoms into the Pikmin game we were waiting for. Episodes will be longer than they have been from here on out, just because there’s so much to see and do in even one exploration day!

  1. Im with others when i say that i think longer episodes would benefit this series alot. Obviously, do what you want to do and what you think is right! Also, ive noticed a few framerate dips throughout the video, and that could be on the recording end or the game end, but its something that is noticeable! Otherwise, im so very excited to see you play pikmin 4 and Ooh and Ahh over all the music, sound, enemy, and overall design of the game!! Keep it up Scruffy! And remember, YOU are Captain Olimar's last and only hope!

  2. it is so goshdarn nice to have a playthrough where someone is so clearly passionate about the medium and it's technical details, I love seein someone get excited about stuff like dynamic music, and the presence of normals 😀

  3. If Scruffy is liking the little motifs to past Pikmin games right now, just he waits until he gets into the special end game campaign mode that has many motifs from Pikmin 1, like Forest of Hope, Final Trial, Impact Site, and my favorite is what they did with the Distant Spring! Watch him make a 10-minute analysis on how Pikmin 4 transforms the music from Pikmin 1 into something new and interesting.

  4. "when the Red Pikmin were thrown off that blowhog they went back to being Buds … they they went down a maturity level"
You could say they got… deflowered.

  6. You can do the entire "Sun baked terrace" level including blue onion and all caves in the Demo. As long as you don't pick up any treasure. I just now played the free Demo past were this playthrough ends and still have a lot to do before collecting all the treasures in one day.

  7. i would be backseating so hard like i really appreciate all the insight into the sound and visual design, its a perspective you dont get from most creators but theres still a part of my brain thats like "NO YOU MISSED A SHORTCUT, GET THE RAW MATERIALS SCRUFFY, THE RAW MATERIALS!!!" thats the dandori gland ig

  8. I have to mention how much I appreciate the slower approach to the game. Admiring the scenery, mentioning a lot of small details and how compositions are done, it really gives perspective how much the environment can mean to someone else on a higher level.

  9. I'll admit, watching scruffy burn his time to a crisp just staring at a bulborb was slightly painful. But hey, it's not like there's a day limit, so I suppose there's plenty of time to soak up every detail.

  10. Am I alone in feeling like there is just way too much text and dialogue in this game? I've only played the demo and I don't think Scruffy has even gotten through more of the game than that covers anyway, but I'm really just skimming through this Let's Play series to see what Scruffy's thinks of the game and to see if the endless barrage of explanations and talking ever ends. I love Pikmin but my impression of this game so far is that it's just way too hand-holdy.

  11. I don’t know how to say this, but your playthrough is such a delight. I’m a huge Pikmin fan since I was a kid, and naturally teared up during the initial Title screen of Pikmin 4. Your passion and genuine love for the series at its core is so contagious, even my husband who knows nothing abt the franchise loves listening to these videos in the background.
