SCP 1102 is a phenomenon localized in the Blue Ridge Mountain range in the eastern USA, though evidence suggests it may also include an area as far south as mid-Georgia and Alabama.
The exact cause of the effect is unknown, as no external factor has affected any facet of SCP1102 .
The effect occurs only at night, during periods of rain or snow, and targets deceased bodies within a small, randomly selected area.
The dominant urge in all subjects, human or otherwise, seems to be one of returning or rejoining other members of the original species.
All entities completely vanish at some point in the same night that their appearance occurs, usually shortly before sunrise.

  1. Actually happened to my grandfather & his crew when he was the admin in one of the old mills in Del Norte. They were just sitting around a fire eating/drinking after the work day when some random "hobo guy" walked up out of nowhere & sat around the fire with them. Not a word spoken, didn't respond to attempts at conversation. He would've had to walk almost 20 miles on unpaved road to get to that location; everyone drove or got a ride, yet this guy came out of the forest, not from the gate that the road led to. It was incredibly bizarre, but after a couple hours he left back into the forest the same way he came. Noone, even to this day, knew what to make of it, but my grandfather never thought it was a ghost despite others thinking so.

  2. Any woman hiking alone out in the middle of nowhere is just asking for trouble. I'm a 6ft 235lb man and I wouldn't go hiking alone out in the middle of nowhere, unless I was packing some serious firepower. And even then I would still have some apprehensions about doing it.

I love this type of suspense. There is something wrong here. Just enough to make you uncomfortable but not enough to do something about it.

    Great writing.

  4. SCP 109 "Lumpy.109" Here, great work Doctor Bob, us Keter SCPs have been watching very closely, and we're impressed. We will keep observing your creativity and dual diligence with great interest. From the bottom of all our celestial and multidimensional hearts, we thank you. We're huge fans here in the foundation, and we happen to know several council members are fans of yours too. You have friends in high places, so keep striving for improvement. Also, don't forget to say hello and pet SCP 999 for me, I haven't been able to see them since there was a… Misunderstanding with SCP security personnel when one alerted one of my security drones and was… Blown up. Much appreciated.
