The Earth is spinning on a magnetic axis, NOT a solid axis. The Earth is also oscillating on a tilt as it spins. Earth's spin is not perfect because of flow of water and it weight is not perfectly balanced due to shifting weight. Plus tectonic activity sifting ground weight around. This causes the Earth's poles to slowly but surely walk around the Earth changing location. As it dose this it caused different land masses to be located in different climates in the past. It is still doing this today. Notice observations by scientists are telling people that the poles have slowly changed and are moving. This is where the idea of people thinking the poles flip at certain intervals. It's a slow, slow process. It does not happen over night, all of a sudden.
Nature nor climate have a vote, so politicians are totally disinterested in nature or climate, thinking they live only once and not caring for their own children's future. I can't imagine how such people can sleep at night.

My Dad told me most of the dead in the cemeteries were avalanche victims and not those of conflict. Ar the Town Hall on the other side of the river in a Museum to the Conflict. On our side of the river. Mauthen has a number of house preserving shells in the walls from the Italians that hit. I have been up on the mountains where the soldiers were and to the trenches found near the Wolayersee. One of the soldiers in the cemetery is actually a very distant relative – avalanche causality – from our direct ancestor's birth village in South Tirol. Mauthen being a border town has seen centuries of conflicts.
