…well, we're talking about a fictional military in a distant future so I suppose technically it can be set up however this fictional DOD (or equivalent) or whoever wants. The 'Contra' videogame series seem to do something similar. But I'm NGL, this sounds very strange to RL veterans…🤷♂️
Her referring to them as soldiers isn't really a problem either since again, it's a fictional military but also she could just not know any better (just like most lifelong civilians in RL).
Plus technically in the broadest sense of the word, all military members are soldiers anyway (rather the usmc likes it or not LoL😅).
