Yeah, I bought a car with a Takata gun pointed at my face this last year and the first thing I did was take it to the dealership to dump the old airbag.
23:54 Is anyone else bothered by the crash test dummy having nipples?
I happen to own the only Ford in the 2007 model year not hit by the Takata recall
I honestly remember this recall like the first recall I really remember was a fire stone Ford Explorer incident in the late 90s like there were some real fuck ups back in the day but this one was so much more deadly I think just because it was something shooting at your face while you’re in a car crash to begin with which is already dangerous
OK cool to know that your car sounds like that too I got an oh one accord and I swear to God my sewing machine which is from the 50s sounds better than this fucking engine first time that I’ve ever owned so it’s all new to me but cool it’s not just me
It's still going on, I received a letter for one month ago that they want me to show up with the car to check if I need to change it, and of course I have to change it, but they didn't have the part in stock so I was put on a waiting list and I'm still waiting.
It's not funny to drive around with a Russian roulette style car, I would park it but I need the car and so does my wife.
What’s extremely concerning about this recall specifically with Dakota is that as more as recent as 2019 they’re adding more cars and not notifying people my late father-in-law had gifted my husband and I a car I have a 2001 civic recently and I am just finding out that this car is never been repaired under this recall Mind you my father-in-law is not the most knowledgeable with car maintenance to begin with he’s a former drug addict his mines a little addled was a little idle by it so I don’t blame him for that but Honda never notified him I’ve gone through every paper in his home looking for some kind of notification and never found one if you didn’t buy your Honda brand new from a Honda dealer I don’t think you were going to get these notifications
Imagine cutting corners to the point where the final (supposedly lifesaving) product amounts to nothing more than a pipe bomb behind the steering wheel.
fuck capitalism
Out of all the major recalls this is one of the most horrifying ones. Product safety is very important and shouldn't be taken lightly. The fact it's an airbag which is meant to keep you safe is even worse.
My grandmother worked in gm, and as she tells it she was one of the people who brought it up to the company. I might be misremembering. She worked for GM from the 80s to the mid 2000s
@23:54 That crash test dummy is way too cold! Who in God’s name decided to give them hard nipples?!? It’s not a real doll, it is a crash dummy. WEIRD…
9:20 "Cut costs … to maximize that sweet tasty profit…ah, the pressure of capitalism." I am so tired of hearing bullshit like this. We ALL try to maximize our personal "profits," don't we? Do you (Plainly Difficult) not shop around for "the best deal" which means "cheaper than the other guy's product"? Markets are ALWAYS trying to lower their costs, for god's sake! Look at the cost of the PC for instance. During the PC's early days, computers cost thousands of dollars. Now you can buy a PC with 10,000 times the computing power of one from 1980 for under $100. And it was all done because zillions of vendors and suppliers working in the capitalist system "cut costs to maximize sweet tasty products," which had the effect of lowering prices for the consumer. By pushing this bullshit about capitalism, we've created a generation that believe profits = evil, when in fact "profits" have created the highly affordable tech world we all live in. Indeed, your analogy is utter rubbish. Grow up.
24:00 Wtf why does that test dummy need nipples
wft happened to your first car! Man that's some damage 😬
Hey cool, I'm currently part of a class-action lawsuit about this recall! I'll probably end up getting all of about 10 bucks out of it since there are so many people involved, but I figured hey, why not? Thankfully the folks at Honda Aus looked after me really well a few years back, had everything replaced very promptly at no cost to me, and my little Jazz is still running like new. Great video mate!
OMG so weird, I had actually my second hand Toyota called back few years ago. Until that time had driven it already 4 years. I had no idea how bad things could have been until this video. Car was ok I think… it took few hours only.
From a car guy's perspectivee, this whole thing is a shame – chiefly from the loss of life, of course, but also given the fact that Takata was and is a highly respected manufacturer of racing belts. A lot of iconic race cars use them, especially ones from Taka's home country of Japan. Hearing such a respected company involved in such a huge scandal was both surprising and saddening.
24:00 Why this dummy cuttin' diamonds tho?
I just got a recall in the mail for my 2012 Ford Fusion for the exact same thing. A while back it was the passenger one, possible shrapnel, and now its the driver one. They're acting like it's a minor thing
I won’t lie, I almost died laughing at that letter 🤣🤣🤣
I had my Saab recalled by GM Canada for Takata airbags. They were pervasive. I bought a Saab because of their very good crash rating with a built in steel roll cage. It seems I'd have been safer with no airbags whatsoever.
Your Honda is effed. Fell over my chair laughing. Informative with a sense of humor – Nice!
@5:37 — HOLY DAMN THAT'S MY DAD'S CAR R.I.P. LOVE YOU DAD!!!
Bro I've been subscribing for awhile, but I'm not going to tolerate any Chevrolet slander on this here internet…!
Especially from someone who drives on the wrong side of the car 😜
On a scale of 1 to 10 , this scandal would rate a 99
holy shit! There's an airbag recall on my car that the dealer keeps putting off / cancelling the appointments. I had no idea that it was so serious, thank you for sharing this!!! I will be following up and putting pressure on them…
Received recall notice on car I had recently traded in for a newer car which was not part of a recall. I informed them I no longer owned car and where I had traded it. To this day I STILL receive recall mail for that car that I do not own. No matter how many times I tell them that I don't own that 20+ year old car.
I enjoyed the video!! N I think I'll enjoy this series 2! It's definitely my cup of tea!! Thanks u, from a new subscriber!
Biased
Liars, cheats and thieves……………
Dam I used to do calls for for takata recalls. He def not lying about tons of cars being on the street with this issue. Like I was doing calls earlier this year and they said they gonna need ppl for the next like 5 years for how many cars out there and its already been going on for years.
I can't be the only one that is bothered by the fact that crash test dummy's have nipples…
