Investigate the scene, gather the clues, try not to make too many silly assumptions (a task at which I ALWAYS fail), and do your best [insert famous detective character here] impression! I love that this game has so many layers to its mysteries that can be easily missed when preoccupied with trying to understand the basic outline of the case. In fact, watching others' as they arrive to their conclusions always helps me to clarify any lingering questions as I am able to observe carefully and free up mental space to ruminate on other aspects.
SPOILERS
Kula Stirna: I really like how her true character was revealed in this scenario since initially, she and Lavu seemed to be the kindest of the guardians. However, Kula turns out to be incredibly petty and so much so that she becomes indebted to Tissa seemingly because she wants to vote against him at the meetings. One of the commune residents even remarks in the first scenario that Kula vote against Vyrlis Momgo just to spite him, and it turns out that this does seem to be her primarily (if not only) reason. More importantly, as she is the guardian of the female residents, it's all the more troubling that she is voting for petty reasons rather than to evaluate whether a particular initiative is good or bad for her charges. More troubling is her treatment of Sahilia who she spreads gossip about until she needs her to payback the debt to Tissa.
Lavu Mata: While I understood that she was obssessed with preserving the ancient practice, I was shocked that obsession led her to murder the deeply unpleasant Tissa. I am not advocating for murder, but I can definitely understand why someone would want to be rid of him. Watching SB throughout this scenarion, I finally realized a few clues I had missed previously: the honey on the sentinel urn and the reason for Lavu's absence for the entire middle section. Basically, the yellow sticky substance on the urn lid answers the questions of where the bones come from and who took them. It also clarifies who was skulking around by the Dweller's tower and offers up a possible reason for the idol's usage. And yes, Lavu is missing during that middle section because she is presumably hiding in the bag. But though she is physically gone, you can still see all the actions she has undertaken : spiking the honey, stealing the sentinel bones, making an agreement with Sahilia and writing those threats on that wall.
The thing that got me in this scenario was that the baskets are so close to the entrance that I couldn't believe anyone could jump out and join the crowd without being seen. So that made me go on very confusing the digressions regarding climbing around the lodge somehow.
It was pretty obvious that Lavu Mata was up for something if you look at her necklace which has the code for the camber for the writting tablet.
