Sanibel Island Before Hurricane Ian. Beachcombing 3 Beaches Before Hurricane Ian Ruined Them.

Visiting Sanibel Island before Hurricane Ian was something I never took for granted. I always marveled at the beauty of Sanibel Island and I still can’t believe I haven’t been there since “the” hurricane. On this trip we’re also going to visit Fort Myers Beach and Lovers Key one last time. I can’t imagine what those beaches look like now and I’m really looking forward to seeing them again.

  1. Thank you Sharmon! And thanks to the YOUTUBE algorithm that sent you my way. I have been working through all your content. My husband gives me side eye as I try and shout out shell names before your (so competitive) and when I see something I think you missed… like I have a better perspective from my desk. I am also sharing your videos. With my 8 year old niece who loves to check out tide pools and generally explore. We live in Los Angeles and don’t have the type of shelling like SWF. But we are doing more research for local trips down to San Diego for sand dollars… who knew!? Thank you for the inspiration, education, for your chill vibe, and your beautifully shot and edited content. When the Fort Myers’s area is ready for visitors we’ll start making plans. In the meantime… I will find you on Patreon, another first for me! Take care!

  3. Hi, Sharmon. I LOVE the entertainment and vast information you offer to us “armchair shellers” who cant get to the beach as often as we’d like! I’d love to plan a winter vacation to Florida and do some shelling, but have no clue as to where to go since Ian has caused so much damage to Sanibel, where we’ve gone in the past. Our preference would be somewhere low-key and relaxing with easy access to the beach. If you or any of your subscribers could share some ideas I’d be greatly appreciative! Thank you! Chris

  4. Hello Sharmon! I love it that you have 'before' videos. It's fascinating to see the golden olive maneuver through the sand. Beautiful collection this time.
    Praying blessings on you.
    Best regards, c

  5. Hi Sharmon! So good to see you again. It's sad looking at all the pics of what Ian has done to SWF but this video made me happy. Being able to know it will be back even if not quite the same it will be back. We all know those shells are always going to come in and I look forward to your new adventures when the time comes. Thanks for making my week! Love that beach time!!

  6. Went to this beach 2 weeks before the hurricane hit. I have 3 lady friends that we went there for the day. They loved the beach and enjoyed sanibel. I am a snowbird and had my mobile home in fort Myers flooded with 2 feet of water. Great video.

  7. New subscriber. I'm late to this party but I'm glad I found it. I'm also a collector. I haven't been able to look for beach treasure in a while because life keeps getting in the way but I hope to return to the shores soon. I didn't get to it this year, but I'm hoping to be able to spend a day at beaches all over Florida, eventually the country. I'm here in Northeast Florida. Most of my collection is from Amelia Island and American Beach. Hopefully by the time I get myself together, the beaches will be restored. Sanibel is at the top of my to do list.
