Jack Benny’s annual Christmas sketch began on radio and easily made the transfer to his top rated television series, THE JACK BENNY PROGRAM. Like his hysterical radio show, Jack surrounded himself on TV with the best performers and sharpest writers in the business. The cast for this 1960 holiday special includes regulars Don Wilson, Dennis Day, Eddie “Rochester” Anderson, the great Frank Nelson as the floorwalker and the voice of Looney Tunes, yes, it’s the amazing Mel Blanc as a harried salesman who effortlessly breaks up Benny. Plus, Richard Deacon and Benny Rubin!
Sure, I know it’s not a western, but Jack did portray “Buck Benny” in numerous radio episodes and in a 1940 feature film, BUCK BENNY RIDES AGAIN! So, saddle up for laughs in this special presentation.
A WORD ON WESTERNS wishes everyone a very Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year. We look forward to bringing you more exclusive interviews and exciting western entertainment in the coming year. Thanks for joining us.
