Hey John and Eli (and Jill! 👋), it's great to have yet another episode to watch this week (I know you still here in Aus. I'm not sure I can catch up with you in February. I'll let you know closer to your dates – please contact my brother Graeme should you wish to sail during those dates). My apologies for yet more questions this week…It seems that almost everyone likes to cruise Turkey, and your videos show an amazing culture, food and lifestyle to be envied for sure. But I must ask: Do you suffer from anchor anxiety when you leave your boat? What anchor does the Leopard use/supply their boats with? Will you choose the same for the 52? As you may know, I have been following RR2 exploits for some years now and more recently (for possibly the last 18 months) they have expressed some concern over their ability to anchor securely each and every time they drop the pick. Of course, good anchoring technique (and rode length) must be used to secure your boat well, including knowledge and choice of bottom type, etc. They seem to have got the right system set up now with their new cat, but still suffer from anxiety – I can't remember which anchor they use (Delta?) and I'm not asking you for advice to solve their issues. But You and Eli never seem to express any concern about leaving your vessel unattended. So I just thought I would ask which anchor you use.
On another note, I'm curious about Turkey's tiles which you showed on sale in the shops. Would they be for bathrooms, etc or for use to protect wooden tables, etc. Do they supply them all in the same style? How does the tile sales system work? Or are these just for use on boats as plate/table protectors, etc. Please fill in my knowledge gaps on this cultural phenomenon. Fair 💨's and following 🌊's… (Edited for spelling).

Thanks for the update and being up front about what you know and what you don't. Many of the things you are considering takes months of planning and it's informative to hear how you are approaching these "opportunities" :). Sounds like June, July, or maybe even August delivery especially considering shipping to the Med. Now you are getting to the Med near the end of the normal season. Maybe you consider another venue closer to the equator if the delivery extends beyond midyear.
I'm considering a new Cat purchase next year. HH Cat was at the top of my list but when I saw the disaster with Jason and Nikki I reconsidered. It would be nice to visit the Philippines but I don't want to spend months sailing and waiting there while major repairs are completed. After watching your channel and some others, I have decided to purchase an aluminum Cat. Portofino has so many wonderful features. What I'm starting to realize is that the boat building industry is plagued by the same problem as other industries which is there is never is a shortage of great ideas but using those ideas to create a reliable, timely product is the true challenge. I love the Portofino design but if the company can't tell you when the work will be completed this far along in the boat building process, I would be supremely worried about their ability to deliver a reliable product. A few weeks back, I sent Portofino two emails using an address that I got off their website to start talks about a potential boat purchase. Something so basic as returning emails doesn't seem to be working.
I'm hoping for the best with your new Portofino 52 and will be following your adventures this year. Thanks for the update!

The best way to see and learn about a place is to simply wonder and take time to smell the roses. I have found some amazing things by random wondering San Fransico. One of my favorite vacation destinations.

You sound like me! i could get it done in 8 days, (if it was just me / myself and i) but the reality is that not everyone works as fast or diligent as us LOL. Good thing your companion is a bit more realistic. Did you know that the word companion actually meant wife or husband? Ttfn
Your new boat should be test sail next to the factory for at least 3 month. Small and new company, new design, it is 100% guaranty that you will have several bugs that need fixing. Don't rush them. Give them some time to make it right. They don't know what will go wrong when they launch the boat. They will need time to work all of the issues. You are buying a custom made boat, it is a prototype. You should plan something else for the next summer. Otherwise you will end up like the Wynns with your new boat in a boatyard for month.
So recognisable. Time the most precious asset is sometimes difficult to plan. Especially with visa complications.

The channel Sailing Helios found a convenient loophole by checking out of the EU in Monaco and staying on their boat as “Crew”. They can go ashore, but not overnight on land.
