This is just my opinion. But now that AMD is saying March I can see they decided to wait and make sure they had a lot of stock of the RX 9070 series so it's not a paper launch with limited supply.
And I'm sure they seen Nvidia prices and decided to step back but AMD can legit change the prices on the fly so I don't think AMD was afraid of the prices.
