The RTX 3080 and RX 6800 XT are now over two years old. How are they holding up in the 2023? How do they perform in new games using Unreal Engine 5? How have driver and game updates changed their relative performance? What about Ray Tracing? What about FSR 2 vs DLSS 2? In this video we deep dive into all of these comparisons along with a look at new and used pricing in the current market.

Hey Daniel, the program Lossless Scaling that you reviewed before has a new version with ML Spatial Upscaler called LS1, which has standard and performance modes. It is way better than FSR1, not up to the DLSS level due to being a spatial upscaler, yet way better than the standard solutions. Please check that again. It is good for both lowe tier users, or people who wanna upscale demanding games to 4k from 1440 or 1080p
I snagged an XFX 319 Core RX 6800XT for $549USD before taxes. Brand new. I was worried it was too good to be true, but a few days after ordering it arrived for store pick-up, brand spanking new. That's below MSRP, of the reference card, at that. I was close to getting a 6750 directly from AMD but I just got incredibly lucky with Best Buy on a whim. Pairs great with my Ryzen 5700X.
Isn't it just sad that these GPUs are now sold at proper price , only after 2 years after theory were released ,
Rx6800 xt goes for $550.00 but rtx3080 is still around $700.00 to $800.00 .
Rx6800xt is good buy I guess ,
Missed opportunity to test intel's arc GPUS along with these
After having to give back my mates 1080 after using it for nearly two years, I had to buy a new GPU after waiting for the 7800XT.
Ended up picking up a 6800XT Red Devil for 7700NOK (760~USD). I considered the 3080, but it would cost 9500-10000 NOK (950-1000) USD. The 4070ti was even higher.
It was a no brainer and the 6800XT is an awesome card. Drivers have been solid too.
At same price point AMD usually does better but every time i've tried an AMD GPU i experienced driver issues which makes me wanna stick with Nvidia . . .
Anyways, GPU rpice are crazy stupid so i just buy used cards at really great price so i get even better bang for my bux!
copped an nvidia 3080ti last year in september for $799, not the best investment but its the last of EVGA's gpus and it overclocks so damn good.
There is almost 100w difference in power consumption
Awesome video, thank you! So, nVidia is overpriced…again??? (lol)
I would have seriously considered a $520 Rx6800xt, but i went for a 7900xtx at MSRP (i got lucky i guess).. what an overclocker! i could push it to 3454 MHz/3095Mhz/undervolted to 1010mv, vram 2770Mhz, i'm just shy of 34k points at timespy but it draws 468W!!!!
There are a lot of videos on youtube that tend to prompt people to purchase expensive graphic cards. Most are based on fps and most don't tell people the truth. The truth is you almost never need more than 60 fps to enjoy a great gaming experience. Just take Elden ring as an exemple. Hard and very demanding fights that require fast moves are great and the game never exceeds 60 fps. Usually, the gaming experience can be great as low as 40 fps. It is better above 50, but youtube videos that tell you that you need a lot more or suggest that you do are untrustworthy.
recently picked up a 3 month old rx 6800 for 450 Euros and it has performed fantastically. That price wouldnt even get me 3070 here.
what is your rx 6800xt driver version ? please tell me
Hi. I know you are radeon professional. I just bought asrock 6900xt oc formula xtxh model for 620 dollars. I just saw some benchmark, they say oc formula even exceeds rtx3090. It is second hand but it was so clean. You think it was bad idea?
Before buying consider the powerusage. In summer you will be very happy to have a card that produces less heat.
Why a XT card competing directly against a non-Ti card? It's unfair comparison. AMD has been going tier-to-tier.
Check those wattages… You will need a different PSU setup there
Well, AMD uses 80 to 100 watts less power and the fps is close in most cases, and even in several situations AND actually being better in some games.
This tells me AMD has a better product when it comes to efficiency and could close that power gap easily if adding more transistors to their cards to be more viable in the fps department, and still be cheaper. AMD are innovating while NVIDIA are using brute force which will bite them in the ass one day, but their DLSS 3.0 is mixing things up for sure.
Thanks for the information! Really indepth! I got the 3080 12 gig, and in somw cases it is just shy of being good when it comes to using my Samsung G9 Neo 49 inch where DLSS is really needed. Can't really crank it all the way up in Cyberpunk, but that's a game engine problem and poor optimisation for 4K with the 3080 series card.
why are you even comparing a 6800 XT to a 3080 when they're literally hundreds of dollars apart. Price is the ONLY way to compare.
Wow, this is a great video because I have a 3080 12gb and I got it for a great deal for $515 in October last year.
Looking at the price to performance and power consumption, i take a 6800xt over a 3080 any day.
Raytracing is the only thing the 3080 still does better.
Considering that the 3080 12gb is around tje same price of a rx 6950xt I'd go team red no brainer
looks like i may stick to 1080p for future proofing.
I think for games like the Callisto Protocol we're just seeing the RDNA2 optimizations from the console translating to PC.
Better to filter eBay's, "Sold," prices (with same used working condition filters).
Thanks for all the work!
Both of these GPUs trade blows but the 3080 consumes so much more power
Gotta love that 6800XT.
Bought my 3080 TUF for 729$ on release day . OC'ed to max . Won't sell until 5080 comes out 😉
Why is you 6800xt using only 270W ? Mine caps at 293w constant, plus in cyberpunk I have more frames at max
In Romania, a standard 10GB 3080 costs anywhere between 1000 Euros to 2000 Euros with most floating around the 1500 mark.
An RX6800XT can be caught as low as 600 Euros with most floating around the 800-900 mark.
It's not even a competition, the 3080 is a complete meme GPU in some markets where often times 4090s are cheaper.
this is not normal 3080,is 3080 with 12gb!
The packged look nice like an Chrom 3080 =D
The AMD vs NVIDIA contrast for MW2 is fucking ridiculously stupid
The fact the 6800xt is anost comparable to the 3080 12gb in unreal engine 5 while consuming more than a 100w less!!!
Look at that 3080 100 Watts more power consumtion…
4090 is the winner 🏆 Nvidia all the way ! Youtubers are dumb 🙄
$300plus price difference for the few high frames and some Ray tracing to improve graphics as long as you turn the graphics quality down. You tried hard to justify it but I think only a sucker will buy the 3080.
Don't forget about the 6800 non-XT as well. Snagged one for $475 at microcenter. My 4 year wait for a better GPU has now ended.
both cards dream rn using 6600 xt
is PowerColor Radeon RX 6800 XT Red Dragon 16GB worth buying for 649 euro?
Amd consumes a fraction of the power, 6000 series was the closest amd ever got to challenging nvidia.
