  1. Good job with some interesting ideas presented. Still, I have some notes…

Why the choice to have everyone land where they landed, namely Yang by Penny and Blake near Crescent Rose?

Where'd Tatiana Steel come, name wise I mean. Also, why dog?

Im assuming that you didn't read the books. Would think that someone on team NDGO would want maiden powers before Velvet or Nora. That and no mention of headmaster Theodore or headmistress Rumpole. Nor any appearance of Carmine but she's whatever after walking off into parts unknown.

Odd omission of Cinder beating down Weiss while Jaune killed Penny and the fact Penny initially asked Ruby to kill her.

Also major criticisms: Where's ozpin in Oscar's head during all this, and Mercury was there when Tyrian said Salem would destroy the world in volume 8. If anyone's to have the most likely idea of what Salem wants, it's the lapdog.

  2. Easily, the best radio show i've ever heard. Qrow and Maria; I cried. This was an amazing telling for V9.
I want a complete Rwby Critter radio show starting from V1. 10/10, would recommend to any old Rwby fan.

  3. We all know it's not going to be half as good as your version of volume 9. The only thing I want Roster Teeth to do is wrap up the story quickly before it becomes even worse than what it is now.

  4. The biggest problem i see is how people react to Penny and the presumed death of Qrows nephews (really his entire family). Jaune seems barely effected, but it might be that your just not acting out your dialogue that much. I would want Ruby to seriously hate him and for Jaune to really hate himself, and not want to be around the main group because he feels so bad. The conflict should extend longer than a few minutes of the episode.

Qrow should have broken down worse than he'd ever before. He could recall a memory with Summer, and he could have promised to protect them. Qrow would've been destroyed. Maria could then come and take the bottle from him and talk to him about how she lost her family, and how she became the grim reaper. This would give exposition for both backstories of them, and make their feelings be better portrayed.

Also Weiss should have been poisoned by Tyrians poison apple (snow white reference obviously), maybe even given to her by Neo, and that be the turning point, where everyone starts coughing after Weiss gets poisoned.

  5. Loved it! I wish we got to see more about Rumple and a bit more about Shade Academy, but this volume had a lot of threads to resolve as it is. It's a shame that Neo had to die. I would've loved to have Neo get some closure as to what happened to Roman, but knowing your feelings about Neo it's not surprising that you ended her story this way instead. I really loved the way Yang and Blake became girlfriends and the little callback to their promise to each other at the end of Volume 6. Big sister Weiss is best Weiss! Also having Maria talk Qrow out of falling off the wagon again was really sweet and easily the best moment of the volume. I hope you write a volume 10, too!

  6. broke: ignoring a show and going on with your life
woke: spending 100 minutes obsessing over a show she doesn't like to the point where she's going to "rewrite" a volume that hasn't aired yet without any of the revealed elements because she's fundamentally anti-RWBY

In these rewrites, nothing happens. Three episodes in, our main characters have done nothing but wander around and kill animals. Oh! Wait! Ruby says that Atlas fell for nothing because Penny died anywayโ€”please stop! Ruby's plan saved not only Penny but also the people of Atlas and Mantle. You still want Ruby to hate herself, though. This series has NOTHING going for it. If this was a canon series, I would be very bored and roll my eyes a lot while watching it. Did you talk to other people about this? Did you talk out loud to yourself? Did you think about everything, try to remaster and remix, and do anything else that wasn't just out of spite? Instead of bile and acid, why not put love and passion into something?

This isn't something you do for fun. You're doing this just to feel good about yourself and get praise, but why? You were not happy with a show? Then stop looking at it and get on with your life. If you don't like a show, you shouldn't watch it. It's that simple.

also, the POC characters, like Harriet, Robin, and Emerald, are always being huge jerks out of nowhere. what the hell is up with that.

  7. I loved this video so much, I will say though, as soon as Ruby made the comment โ€œheh just like your bossโ€ I got aggressively upset, like not at you but like at the character cause like Ik that in cannon if that happened there would 100% be some sort of reaction like that at I just yelled like โ€œshut up Ruby I love Roman and Neo like 10 times better than you, and you know if you werenโ€™t the main character that Roman wouldโ€™ve killed you back in volume three; darn main character bs!โ€ XD all around loved the video and Iโ€™m excited to see how similar and different it will be to cannon v9!

  8. Oh my god this is so great. I'm so intrigued from minute one. I only managed to stop the video and start commenting because the crystal mirror concept in Episode 4 is SO NEAT I had to say somethin. The card suit based people are also super neat, especially that some of them look like the relics. ๐Ÿ‘€

Oh…..Oh Tyrian slowly poisoning the folks of Vacuo is brilliant. O: Also Ruby pointing out that all the Atlas stuff was ultimately for nothing helps that plot point land better, because at least now it's something the characters have to deal with o:

God Pietro and Qrow bonding over lost loved ones……. I can't gush enough about how amazing this is?? A+++ Nora's scars glowing when she uses her semblance…. O8 OH MY GOD THE ELEVATOR MOMENT….

That was FANTASTIC. Bravo!! Thank you so much for sharing ๐Ÿ˜€ I was enraptured the whole way through!! I'd love to draw Lattice, I have a pretty clear image in my mind from how you described her and it's so neat o:

  9. … This is a new level of pathetic, Critter.

This isn't a rewrite. Ignoring that most rewrites fail the 'make better' part of 'written again to make it better or alter it', this doesn't even fit the 'written again' part. It's a fucking AU.

Of course, 'AU' doesn't trigger that tribalistic 'this is anti-CRWBY/RT/RWBY/Whatever' response does it? 'AU' implies that you think it can stand on its own merits and not rely on people accepting literally anything labeled 'anti-RWBY'. An 'AU' would reflect your actual abilities and confidence in them. And not rely on biases that an 'AU' wouldn't appeal to.

That or you're using the algorithm and its preference for negative videos to get traffic to your channel. But at least the other one doesn't assume you're a bitch basic clickbaiter.

Give you credit that you aren't frothing mouth insane about the writers, and you go and do something that those same people would cringe at. Good to know I should stop giving you any kind of credit.

  10. This is so fun!!! I LOVED your time management as well like you understood that you needed to get to everyone and have everyone who is important develop and do something.
Neo was easily the worst part but its not even your fault like we rlly have nothing to work with ๐Ÿ˜ญ

  11. I loved watching it! Well, listening and imagining the world you had created! Tomorrow the first episode of RWBY volume 9 comes out and Iโ€™m glad I decided to watch your take on what you would have made volume 9 into! Iโ€™m really great full that you take the time to make this! Thank you for making it! I really really did enjoy watching it! I appreciate every video you make on my favorite show RWBY I appreciate everything you do. (Also while watching this I made a little digital fan art of your critter oc and did my take on how it would look human, I may or may not just to send it to you, you may never see this comment , I just had fun watching and making it as well) โคโคโค

  12. I really enjoyed this, I could hope RWBY Vol. 9 is actually this good.

My one dislike of this is Neo's death. Sine Im a Neo fan and having her die that way doesn't sit right with me. Although having her die is the what I think is best for the story and her character and how it's purposly similair to Torchwick's death is symbolic. I think I would've preferred a different kind of death I dunno though. I was actually hoping for her to come out of the Lost Creature after it had it's head bitten off but, oh well.

This was great and I could only imagine the amount of time you spent brainstorming and writing this, but thank you for this.

  13. Decent writeup! I appreciate all the work into this, so I think I'll honor all that hard work by putting my own two cents on what you penned down. There are some things I liked and some things I was pretty 'meh' on, but yknow, I bet I'll like this better than whatever they come up with for Volume 9, so you and your sister should work for RWBY at this point lmao (except probably not, RT is the worst).

That said, here's what I liked:

    – Lot of character interactions and growth, which I like. It feels like the characters are finally talking to one another as people again, and that's definitely the biggest strength of this hypothetical Volume. Ruby and Emerald in particular are the standouts when it comes to characterization here (something Ruby desperately needed more of), but Nora, Ren, and Qrow had a lot going for them too.

    – The ending fight in Vacuo was actually pretty strong, I could visualize it in my head perfectly and everything involving Emerald, Tyrian, and Mercury was genuinely engaging-sounding. I'm glad Mercury got some actual time in the spotlight.

    – Pretty good grasp on tone; I like that it never breaks from the moody, heavy atmosphere for too long. If anything, the occasional comedy and moments of levity help elevate all the sourness of the narrative.

    – The whole "trees that light up when Semblances are used" was smart when it got tied into Neo's Semblance. Genuinely intelligent writing.

    – Somehow Yang just saying "this is my girlfriend" is actually way less forced than the obnoxious pretend-Bumblebee-bullshit RWBY's been feeding us for the last few years. You went for the direct route, and it was actually far more tasteful and genuine-feeling. Yang and Blake feel like actual girlfriends here, and the transition into their mutual 'I love you' was smooth. Good stuff.

    – Vacuo struggling with supplies and refugees is a great idea, especially when Tyrian's plan revolves around poisoning the food with his stinger. Again, that's genuinely intelligent writing, and it made the Vacuo finale that much more tense.

And here's some stuff I wasn't too fond of (I'll be blunt but try not to be too mean):

    – Team RWBY once again aren't really allowed to fight the main bad guys of the volume, they're stuck fighting another monster and a side villain. I know this is something either you or Twiins Ink complained about (likely both), so it just feels like a case of 'practice what you preach'. Once again, the side cast is the one handling the major plot stuff.

    – Neo also felt a little… disappointing? I understand she was probably hard to figure out (what do you even really do with her at this point?), but she just gets into a fight and then dies without fanfare. (I also felt like Ruby's response to Neo's death was somewhat callous and unempathetic, but then again, Neo did transform into the corpse of one of her friends, so I guess it sort of evens out.) I understand it's supposed to be a recreation of Roman's death, but yknow, I always felt like Roman's death was pretty bad as well. Cinder betraying Neo doesn't influence Neo's behavior, nor is it something Team RWBY tries to leverage with / against Neo. Just felt like unexplored potential.

    – The Vacuo and Wonderland plotlines didn't converge together in any meaningful way. They felt like two entirely separated plotlines without much connecting them thematically or narratively. Kind of a shame, makes RWBY's side of the story feel like filler.

    – The new proposed characters don't really do much? Tatiana dies before she really gets to shine, I thought Lattice was going somewhere but she wound up just kinda being a random adorable kid, and I honestly completely forgot about the Headmaster of Shade Academy until I was writing this exact sentence. I think I would have preferred sticking to just fleshing out the characters we already have instead of introducing even more randos into the world. (Sun didn't do anything noteworthy in this arc even though he's from Vacuo, felt weird.)

    – And in general, it feels a little… slow. Not boring per se, because I did listen to the whole thing in one sitting and the dialogue carries this thing, but there's a lot of spaces between the action scenes, and it feels like things only really ramp up towards the end. This is more of a preference than a genuine complaint, since I think RWBY's at its best and most RWBY-feeling when it's half action-driven and half character-driven.

All told, solid 6.5/10 or 7/10, a rating I expect to be much, much higher than whatever shark-jumping drivel RWBY will shovel down our throats tomorrow. Good stuff!

  14. I had a feeling you were going to address the Protagonist-Centered-Morality that you dedicated three videos to tearing apart. I'm impressed that you managed to do so without breaking the flow of the story. What was your thought process when crafting Tatiana since we don't know anything about the Summer Maiden?

  16. Ik I'm a little late to this but the fact that we don't even get too see Robyn, a row, Harriet or any of the ace ops, much less Pietro and Maria. But everyone's completely forgotten about them and it's just the island. Not even the rest of team JNPR. The least likely team SSSN AND CFVY in vacuo. I know it's important but if they just mainly focus on the island then outside world stuff wouldn't be done and would be in the same place RWBY left it. To to mention Mercury and Tyrian are already causing trouble in vacuo and team SSSN and CFVY are dealing with it. Points aside, I love this rewrite ๐Ÿ˜

  17. i love rwby rewrites. One thing i donโ€™t understand tho, why would tatiana go straight to the vault, when she knows that it cannot even be entered without her? Idk she seemed smarter than that so it confused me. It seemed a little too convenient for me to have her go to the vault right away. Besides that i really liked this!! Id did feel a little rushed overall i think i would have appreciated it if there had been a little more time between all the events that happened, so that everything could settle a bit more. But thatโ€™s all i could think of :)) I love what you did with the relic fight scene.
