Russian spacecraft crashes into the Moon – BBC News

Russia’s Luna-25 spacecraft has crashed into the Moon after spinning into an uncontrolled orbit, officials say.

The unmanned craft was due to make a soft landing on the Moon’s south pole, but failed after encountering issues as it moved into its pre-landing orbit.

It was Russia’s first Moon mission in almost 50 years.

Roskosmos, Russia’s state space corporation, said it lost contact with the Luna-25 shortly after running into difficulties.

  1. Russia to Ukraine “I want your territory “
Ukraine to Russia “No fuck off”
Russia to Ukraine “then I will turn you into dust”

Russia to The Moon “I want your territory”
The Moon to Russia “No fuck off”
Russia to The Moon “then I will turn you into dust”
The Moon to Russia “I am already dust, but thank you for the garden statue”

    Well, they’re consistent…

  2. "That's one small crater for the moon, one giant prestige hit for Putin's Russia."

Maybe they could blame the space weather. Or something else, like aliens.
But certainly not the state of their equipment or mismanagement.
A bit like what happened to flag ship Moskva.

But this is kinda of sad to Russian scientists that try to do their best, only to be hammered down by corruption and sanctions.
I still remember during the cold war, when they really hammered away those problems and landed to hellish inferno called Venus, many times.
Such golden years for Russian and Soviet Union scientists, that should never be forgotten.
