Lmao the Yankoids are banning tik tok for allegedly doing the exact thing they are doing to their own supposed allies in the EU. This can't get any better
I don't believe the capitalist donors of the Republican party will let their paid-for Congressmen not raise the debt ceiling. It would hurt them too much. Also, I may be wrong here, but would the US defaulting and crashing the economy be good? The weaker the US is the less it can do stupid things, ie. imperialsim.
JT there's a lot of Russian Nazis in your comments sections now and that's concerning. I think you should look into the left wing opposition to Russia's war on Ukraine, such as the BOAK to make it clear to your viewers that opposing western Imperialism doesn't automatically mean supporting Russian imperialism.
Yeah, sure. "The allies should also have negotiated with hitler and let him keep austria, sudetenland, part of poland and france." I would be dead if hitler was still in power. The insane military spending of the US goes far beyond ukraine, but badmouthing the one time they put those weapons to a good use is insane.
€1.2B might not seem like a lot in terms of Meta's earnings, but if that's going into Ireland's coffers they can do some good with that money. At a time when wealth inequality is skyrocketing, rebalancing that to some small degree through their own behaviour will quite possibly feel like the bigger own-goal; the positive news is that these fines keep growihg.
0:39 "Wagner's leadership has stated that they've accomplished all their objectives in the city and are planning to leave the zone within days." So they're declaring victory in the same sentence that they are announcing a retreat?
Wait… on who´s side are you on in the Ukraine conflict? I know you are a tankie, but for current Russia too? I thought the left agreed that what Russia is doing here is wrong and that its simple logic that trying diplomacy with Russia currently doesnt work, as they always demanded that their conquered territories remain their, allowing Putin to save face and live to start another war another day. And dont "what about the US" this, its wrong no matter what nation does it.
Here, the world has a chance to seriously cripple Russia and hold ground against this unjust war. With the arguments for peace many make, that same mentality would have allowed the Nazis to win WW2. If we dont fight Russia now, they will become worse and enact more suffering in the future. If Russia doesnt agree to return conquered territories to Ukraine, then it is Russia who doesnt want peace, not the west.
So, if you side with the fascist propaganda machine in Russia, then you are the problem. A disgrace for the political left and a big reason for our perceived unpopularity.
The problem with being Accelerationist is all the casualties and damage one must watch all around you. But, by the gods, I'm ready for capitalism to crash and burn, like, yesterday!
dunno if they read these but here's my criticism of their ukraine take as a ukrainian. please see this comment as what it is — a youtube comment from some ukrainian leftie, i'm not writing an ironclad dissertation here. also all the obvious points apply: usa bad, western imperialism bad, capitalism bad etc etc. please don't derail my comment into a discussion of other horrible wars committed elsewhere. while those are awful atrocities as well, i want to focus on my experience here
in the bit about this war they said 'prevents the return of normalcy'. what normalcy are they talking about? i feel very uneasy with that term. do they mean normalcy for the western viewer where the ukraine-russia tension is out of sight? do they mean normalcy for the ukrainians and russians? or something else i don't see?
i wanna write about the normalcy of a ukrainian working class person. any 'normal' that i can point to sucks. pre 2022? always questioning if russia will invade while seeing my country go into more and more debt. every election centered around our occupied territories rather than anything that would ever benefit the average worker (which is kinda fair imo, can't do shit if you'll be invaded tomorrow). and seeing how anything they do (or promise to do) doesn't work to solve any issue. pre 2014? a state between western and russian imperialism being toyed with and exploited. i don't want this 'return of normalcy'. this absolutely doesn't mean i want to keep living in a country at war, i want to stress that. what i want is (a global socialist overthrow of capitalism, but seeing how that's not in the cards for the immediate future) at least for the russian war machine to break it's teeth and give us a precedent of repelling the invasion. i see that as a better guarantee against subsequent russian invasions than any ceasefires or peace deals we might make with the aggressor state. and to preempt the 'it doesn't matter if you're living under russian or ukrainian exploitation' argument, i'd much rather live in ukraine as a queer person. i know for a fucking fact it's easier to organize my community here than it is in russia where they have laws banning "homosexual propaganda"
so all in all, i'm glad ukraine is getting western aid. i wish we fucking had more but i suspect that our western friends would rather see this conflict be prolonged to bleed russia as much as possible using ukrainian lives as their spending currency. every time these boys (jt, hakim, yugo) talk about ukraine i feel as if the ukrainian perspective is left out. i agree that this money and resources the us is sending would be better used to house the homeless and stuff. food not bombs. but even if the usa would turn socialist overnight, ukrainians would still be in danger, i would still think if today was the day a Z missile finally hits my building. and we'd still be at war with these invaders
i don't know. i get that the first thought project doesn't have the time for all the nuance i wish there had been in this discussion. just had to get these thoughts out i suppose
p.s. some russian fascists in the comments of the video, not a good sign. @firstthoughtnews might wanna look into how to show that this is not a safe space for them
The problem is, I want peace in Ukraine too but to expect them to just bend over and let Russia just take whatever they want is just unreasonable and if our country was invaded I know if anyone asked me/us to do that I'd tell them to fuck off lol. I dont know what the solution is but putin has proved time and again how unhinged he is. Between the way he treats political opponents and neighboring countries… Yeah I don't think letting him win in anyway is a good thing for the world overall
The debt ceiling is mostly irrelevant in reality. By having the federal reserve creating a single coin with, i don't know, a value of a trillion, the debt losses importance. The US continues to be the only issuer of US dollars.
Eh, the US stockpiles are pretty deep, and it will actually save money as the military wont have to maintain aging assets. Its not like these tanks would be used in combat anyways. Also, peace in Ukraine can only come from Russian withdrawl from Ukraine. If the ukrainians want to keep fighting for their territory and ppl, than we should support them against this unambiguos war of agression.
@1:57 there is no diplomacy with NAZIS to achieve peace, full stop. Neville Chamberlin learned that in 1937 when he gave Germany every concession they asked for hoping to get them to accept being part of the new global structure under Versailles. They did not. Russia is the same situation, they have declared that Ukraine doesn't have the right to exist, and over the past 20 years they have demonstrated that their desire is to restore defacto control if not direct of the old imperial borders. It's telling that they have troops on the other side of Ukraine in Transnistria, the mountain range that the Russian empire used as a defensive anchor. All peace talks bring is space for Russia to re arm and try again.
How exactly is peace in Ukraine going to be achieved without resources to defend itself? What exactly is being advocated for here? We should absolutely call out the way the U.S. is manipulating the situation to its advantage, but I don't think it's fair to impose a peace deal on Ukranians when they're the ones trying to push the Russians out.
Yeah, giving Ukraine F-16s is a fairly aggressive escalation in the conflict. By comparison the MiG and Sukoi aircraft that both Russia and Ukraine have been fighting each other with are both desperately outdated as a result of the Soviet Union's dissolution and sanctions aimed at Russia over the many years has lead to many of these Russian/Ukrainian aircraft falling behind technologically. Its more than likely going to get worse from here on out with this conflict from this escalating weapons dump on Ukraine and political unwillingness to put the brakes on the whole shit show.
I disagree with the view on Ukraine Wanting durable peace means stopping Russia (and other countries) from thinking military invasions can work ie Ukraine getting its territory back. This is why allowing Ukraine to make progress on the frontlines will give it bargaining power and push Russia to eventually concede its defeat. Delivering weapons in this precise case and moment I think is a step towards peace.
😂 you forgot to mention that Ireland tried everything to not charge this fee from meta. However, after many court revision they settled for the least possible amount.
One other thing: the money spend to support Ukraine only is a problem to budgets because the EU introduced similar weird legislation as the us Debt sealing. Legislature which can not hold its validity given the current state of empirical evidence in economics, but fits very well to neoliberal ideology. I wonder how that is? 😅
Your take on the Russo-Ukranian war is so bad I'm unsubscribing. You keep talking about a peace settlement, but never about how that should happen, what should be contained in it, why people would agree to it's terms, or what it's long-term consequences would be. If military aid stops being sent to Ukraine, the only kind of peace Russia will accept is the kind where they keep Crimea, and annex Donetsk and Luhansk. It would also show them that nobody is willing to seriously try and stop them if they decide to take more.
Biased news is 100% correct. A lot of the Ukraine "news" was direct Russian/Chinese propaganda. My guy, you have to develop some kind of standard for truth. Next thing you know you're talking along side Jimmy Dore.
Ah the classic "Guys what we really need is peace in Ukraine!"
Ok, how do we get peace? How do we "get back to normalcy"? What would that look like for your average ukrainian? Who invaded who? All questions that I feel never get answered whenever a truce is brought up and unfortunately it's the same here. Right now ukraine has the advantage, so if a ceasefire was called now who would it benefit the most? And even if we could get it, how would we negotiate with a power that plain and clearly wants to annex or atleast overthrow the ukrainian gov? We all know how well appeasement has worked with dictators in the past.
Imperialism is imperialism idc who does it, it's not acceptable. Are the US and west innocent in all this? Fuck no, but I'd still rather live here than in russia. Let's not make them moral equivalents. We can all wish for a global overthrowing of capitalism but unless it's in the cards for the near future, we need to be pragmatic. And for the people of ukraine, the ones fighting and dying over there, they have made it clear that they don't want russian occupation and are willing to continue fighting for it. And so for as long as that's the case, then we should 100% help them in that.

So many retarded Ukraine takes in this comment section. The take in the video is also at that level.
F the us government
"Conservatives" sure do seem to think they are at war with the poor.
Yeah, sure. "The allies should also have negotiated with hitler and let him keep austria, sudetenland, part of poland and france."

We need revolution ASAP. Let's hope it happens sooner than later. For all of our sakes.

You'd think after years of F16 reigns the skies, people wouldn't think of countermeasures?
Can anyone tell me what is the brand of microchips China is producing and using, I want a switch.

Both "sides" of the US government need to be swept away.

Who gets that Billion from Meta? The people who’s privacy was violated??
europeans fighting against the harsher capitalist exploitations of american corporations is always so funny to me
Meanwhile in Greek Elections, the Right wing won a great victory, proving once more that propaganda rules.
Not only are we funding and threatening war, but we are actively destroying the economy. The American government is invalid.
And how is WWE supposed to go to Jedda Saudi Arabia in those conditions?
Thank you for your work JT awesome stuff sorry to say I’ve been missing out on a lot of content but I’m gonna catch up when I get the chance

Who cares that people don't get money for having voluntarily signed up to mass murder and rape people in third world countries?

Reaganesque stans are just average conservatives. Now they're openly trying to get rid of poor people.

Republican's refusal to raise the debt ceiling is a hostage negotiation.
