Its Amazon who made it, a billionaire company that only cares about money not gaming… The game should have released in 1 more year. People just want something new to play and NW is it.

The embracing of mediocrity seems to be a staple of todays videogame culture. AGS seems to have amazing software engineers but zero gamers.
Also another game that has passion; doom eternal. The director Hugo Martin openly streams his game, dies lots and actually takes/listens to constructive criticism. Shows his and his teams love for the game they have made and that love shines through in the games quality. Hey uh, blizzard/amazon you taking notes?

It doesn't prevent him from pointing out flaws in the game. In a 2021 Youtube video on fans telling new players that a game gets better later so just keep on playing it, he cites FFXIV as an example which loses some new players struggling through the base game, A Realm Reborn.

There's a reason why so many indie developers always make amazing games. Rarely releasing broken content, if at all. They cannot afford to make bad games. If they make a terrible game, they're done. It's over. Of course there are a few outliers like Yandere Dev who have zero idea on what they are doing and all the amateur devs who make things while learning. Meanwhile games like Undertale, The Stanley Parable, Goat Simulator, Stardew Valley and fuckin Minecraft (before Mojang was bought by Microsoft.) Some of these games aren't the worldwide best selling but all are beloved and well made.
Oh no an MMO turns out bad because the company isnt willing to invest the time and money to do it right and fun.

If the they do a full server reset//rollback then a large amount of players are going to be unhappy and I personally will delete the game and never recommend it to anyone.
While I agree that the game is in a state that warrants rolling things back to a degree, I can't support a game that will launch completely busted, find ways to enjoy it and then have all my progress reset. I've spent a week mining Iron Ore and exploring the areas for boxes to grind out Sand Flux to make steel so I can make StarMetal, then proceed to spend more hours mining Iron, gathering hemp for Linen, hunting Wolves, Bison, and Boars for Rawhide for Coarse Leather to slam craft spears because getting my Engineering from 50 to 100 so I could make Star Metal Tools. Having that all go up in smoke is shit. Having to decide to Scorch Earth everything because there was no other option means you've failed to the point that starting over is the only option, which means that all that time is now wasted. Its not the same as a game running its course and the servers finally shutting down and being content with the time I played it, it is having my progress removed and someone spitting in my face telling me "JUST DO IT AGAIN."

so sad Rurikhan value game by the passion like me. Vedio game is a business project. profits is the goal. that is why WOW profits actually rises this year by micro-transaction. that is why EA, Activition, Disney own the business. That is why mobile game is main platform. and games like witcher, FF14 are so rare nowdays. why spend so much efforts on something not profit. just make a remake and they will buy it.

I hope one of these days people learn to stop getting hyped about unfinished games. Companies abuse hype to no end without backing it up because at the end of the day that's what makes them money. They can cut costs by skipping parts of the development process and shipping early then fix the worst of it later if they think there's more money to be gained from doing so. Fuck that, I wouldn't go to a store and pay full price for half of anything and I'm not doing it for video games.
i like the game but i dont understand why people would defend it from criticism, criticism would definitely help this game. the questing is pretty bad, an npc will send you across the map to kill 10 wolves when there are some spawning nearby; and the quests are basically kill mob, loot chest, craft stuff, gather stuff, do dungeon. then there's the copypaste monsters, im lvl 40 now and im still fighting the same stinky zombie and ghost pirates when i was level 10. im also not a big fan of how i can bash the ghost's face with my shield and then stab it, i want the ghost to possess me and fuck me up bc i have no elemental/arcane dmg.
