Running up the stairs at Batu Caves in Malaysia

Most people would just take an aesthetic photo or video at a colorful spot like the Batu Caves and leaveโ€ฆ

But Iโ€™m not most people ๐Ÿ˜…

What does it say about how my brain works, that the first thing that came to mind when I saw all the steps was โ€˜Rocky theme songโ€™.

The Batu Caves is 15 minutes outside of Kuala Lumpur and is one of the most popular Hindu shrines beyond the borders of India.

The name of the caves is derived from the Malay word, โ€˜batuโ€™ which is a literal translation meaning โ€˜rockโ€™.

The caves are dedicated to the Hindu diety, Murugan which is evident with the giant 140ft. statue at the base of the stairs.

Itโ€™s supposed to take about 15 minutes to climb to the top, but thatโ€™s with no stopping.

If youโ€™re like me and stopped to run up and downโ€ฆ well, at least you got your exercise for the day ๐Ÿ˜‚

๐Ÿ“Œ Save this for reference of your future itinerary

  1. Once, it was the time of annual festival in the town and according to their custom, Namrud, the King, went out of town with all his people to celebrate the day. Prophet Ibrahim did not accompany them but stayed behind. He went to the temple where all the idols were kept, and broke all of them one by one. He left the biggest idol untouched, but put the axe on its shoulder.

When the King and his people returned they were very angry to see their idols destroyed. He said that he would kill the person who had caused that damage. The people told him that it must be a young man, named Ibrahim who always preached against the worship of idols. He must have destroyed them.

When Prophet Ibrahim was asked if it was he who broke the idols. He replied, โ€œWhy do you not ask the chief (of the idols) who is standing safe. Perhaps he has done it, that is if your idol gods can speak, ask them as to who broke them.โ€ Thus Prophet Ibrahim did not utter a lie denying what he had done. He only wanted the people to first ask their own idols as to who had done it?
