Ruins of Lammerside Castle, Cumbria

Lammerside Castle in Cumbria.

Originally built in the 12th centuryΒ then later
rebuilt and strengthened as a Pele tower in the 14th century to provide protection against scottish raiders.

OnceΒ  occupied by a branch of the Wharton family, the castle is thought to have been abandoned in the 17th century, after the family moved to the fortified manor, Wharton Hall, near to Kirkby Stephen.

I had to make 2 visits as the first was very very windy as you may see from the camera blowing a bit, and flying the drone was out of the question. It was breezy on the second attempt but managed to get a flight in.
Hope you enjoy.
