Royal Mail strikes: Drone footage reveals huge piles of undelivered post

Commuters face a second day of severe rail disruption on Wednesday as members of the Rail, Maritime and Transport union (RMT) are joined in walkouts by Royal Mail workers, and nurses prepare to take unprecedented industrial action.

Royal Mail has brought forward the final posting dates for Christmas cards to December 16 for first class mail, and December 21 for special delivery guaranteed.

  1. Tbh i would give up any pay dispute if they simply went back the agreement for change that was agreed before. But Thompson and the board need to go as well as no one will trust a word they say.

  2. Sack management at Glasgow Mail Centre, they suspended a union rep for saying word SCAB, plus suspended a worker for using his phone to record the amount of work on TUG route. F.T.P NS🇬🇧🇬🇧🇬🇧

  4. This is what happens when you exploit millions of working people for decades, when you basically misappropriate their livings and steal their lives. All the bullshit about "making work pay" does not mean that, it only means starving sick and disabled people into attempting work they are not fit for, to work for companies unfit to employ them, for wages that are unfit to live on. Still, there are excess profits to be made and fatcat salaries/bonuses to be extracted for a few bosses, so not all bad news, eh? !!

  5. UK is the second biggest contributor to the proxy war between America and Russia 6.7 billion . Absolutely disgusting . The repercussions of Sanctions is bringing the country to its knees . The government is causing the decline in this country . Everybody in my opinion should walk out and demand the government prioritise it's workers and the people of the UK FIRST . British people need to wake up and stop allowing the government to abuse you …

  6. Royal mail has been pared to the bone since privatisation. I am only in my 40s but remember when a 1st class stamp cost 19p and would get there the next day. When you had first post at 8 and second post in early afternoon. I blame the greed of those at top and shareholders not the workers. The major shareholder is Czech, only 47 and worth like 12 Billion. You don’t earn that kind of money without being a ruthless amoral type. Sadly I think RM will eventually be asset stripped and sold off piecemeal. We are going backwards in terms of job security and conditions. It’s almost Victorian. I am not sending any cards this year or giving them a penny.

  7. The worst thing is that the Royal Mail was privatised, and re-privatising it may be the only way to save it as it looks like many people have lost faith with them and have gone to other couriers. They may not even go back to RM once all this is sorted, so have lost their business forever. It's apparent that Royal Mail are not going to back down to the strikers demands so they are losing many days worth of pay for nothing, the company is going down the pan, so they may end up losing their jobs anyway. They should have just taken the 9% pay rise over 18 months and be done with it. Many other people haven't had a pay rise at all. Loads of small businesses have suffered because of the strikes, people not getting important letters i.e. hospital appointments, It's a complete mess.

  8. People need to be paid more for sure but the problem is royal mail are losing contracts by the day it'll get to an unsustainable level and corps like Amazon will say look we will buy royal mail and sack every unionised worker one by one and rehire

  9. This is completely normal at this time of the year with very large quantities of Yorks (Wheeled metal containers) packed with letters and parcels around any Mail Centre in the UK. The real villan here is the attempt by the CEO and the Board of RMG to massively alter workers rights and Terms and Conditions

  10. Dash 2 Trade is clearly a scam, as it has a well-established pattern of deceitful behavior. It doesn’t even try to hide its malicious behavior, which makes what’s going on behind the scenes even more questionable. Save your money, and don’t buy into what’s clearly attempting to be another hype-fueled crypto scam.

  11. The cold weather payments are still all in there for millions of top up meter customers. 2 weeks late!

Royal mail managers should be prosecuted for blocking these letters and freezing people.

After this I hope King Charles removed the royal mails royal charter. Just a bloated company with militant managers, unfunded pensions and no care for front line workers. Consultants got rich.

  12. How can RM afford to pay the Clown Puppet CEO 63K every single month? He's not exactly earning his exorbitant salary is he?
Perhaps Nicola Sturgeon could help the massively overpaid CEO's and unaccountable inept BrexitClown Ministers sort it out?
PF wants drivers to divest themselves of all employee rights and become owner drivers with no holiday and sick pay – it's a scam. Just another example of how Brexit is protecting English employees…….

  13. If you are a small or large business watching this please know that our UK posties want to get in and deliver this great service but we are trying to protect the service now as a whole. What started as a fairly simple pay dispute has turned into the fight to keep this service as we know it. The UK economy needs a reliable and affordable postal network that can serve businesses that operate online. The board and CEO are trying to dismantle the Royal Mail for a fast buck. The profits made have been syphoned off to shareholders and out the county.

  14. I was supporting there action up until today, turns out my local branch won't accept second class post, only first class meaning I have to spend even more cash making the post office more money. Hope the lot of you end up on agency work and burn in hell, telling people they can't send parcels at christmas man, absolute cuntish behaviour hope you's don't get a single extra penny now you rotten swine.

  15. Some stupid reporters were blaming RM workers to go on strike and leaving piles and piles of work outside the building being exposed to foxes and rats to urinate on them. But this is managements fault for leaving it out there and CWU did inform everybody that we are going on strike because people at the top wouldn’t give them a proper pay rise and changing their terms and conditions. Why are these news reporters still blaming the workers when people at the top are not treating them fairly! Thompson OUT!!

  16. Nice to know Thompson is sitting in his 3 million pound mansion enjoying his 200k bonus whilst postie's are using food banks and the public are losing a 500 year old postal service that never quit regardless of snow, floods, extreme heatwaves, hurricane force winds or global pandemics
