I love Roger. The skills is undoubtedly up there with the best of the best. BUT! I never forget. I never forget when he left us at one of the lowest points. Teams away from home, everyones doing it tough, teams not winning enough. All of this off field drama just putting a tonne of stress on everyone. Then the captain leaves. I don't know about you guys, but where I'm from, Captain stays with the ship, Captain goes down with the ship. Instead, he jumped for a lifeboat. Now, since he can't crack the All Blacks, he wants to come back home because were winning????? I don't know I just think this isn't a good look for a the club.
Awesome news, was stoked when I heard it, although not surprised and saw it coming. Imo they won't snatch CNK out of Fullback as he is playing his ass off and has earnt the no. 1 jersey, he signed up to return home exclusively for the FB role, plus yes, we need help in the centres which isn't really CNK's forte. Rog will obviously be handy coverage if CNK gets injured. I saw a short video with CNK and Marata together talking on the Warriors website maybe a few wks ago and CNK made a VERY clear point of saying that he was here to play as a FB only. For some reason at the time I thought that he was making it extra known to management that even if Roger was to come back home that he won't be interested in relinquishing the role. As for the Captaincy role, let's wait and see ay. Imo Rog is a better captain vocally but I'm happy to have Tohu stay there as Rog will still have huge talk on the field regardless of which position he plays. As we all know, Rog is the ultimate professional and will hit the ground running. There may be a brief bedding in period but I think he'll be fine. Go the Wahs!!! 💪🏾
What no one is saying or divulging is how much we have paid to get RTS back. He certainly should not be on the big money he was when he left more around what SJ is now on.If we are paying "overs" this is smells like a marketing move as we have CNK and the very promising Tuapiki so RTS will have to play out of position which naturally devalues his worth. CNK came here for the FB spot not to be shifted about and has done nothing to lose it in fact quite the opposite so surely Webster will not push him aside for RTS. Hopefully we have not put all our eggs in the RTS basket and are in a position to be chasing hard the likes of NAS who is off contract (Dolphins after him as we should be) as believe it or not you can have the all the flashy talented backs but the game is still won up front where one can argue if AFB goes down we will be badly stretched. Personally I would be far more excited with likes of NAS signing on but that's life.
Yeah.! This has to be the breaking news of the year.! All the salty people can go get a life. Yes, I totally agree with Roger going into centre position, he'll slot in perfectly.! His time in Super rugby playing at centre will give him the confidence to make the adjustment easy. All due respect to Pompey, he'd be the one I'd be letting go to make room. Its unfortunate cos Pompey has good height and size.. and his game has been improving over time but we're talking about RTS.. Vailea has been earmarked for the future and Rocco Berry has big wraps.. Either way, we're building a real Premiership team with this season being the building block for a full on assault. Not that I'm writing them off for Premiership contention this year but it has been awhile since they've been in this position.. Go the WARRIORS.!!
