  1. Disney needs to step up it’s game with theming, rather then diminish it. $6000 for a two night immersive experience. Delos gave it’s guests a fully immersive experience in the 1880’s old west for $1000 a day and they had robots. Granted the robots got a computer virus and killed all the guests but it was fully immersive. Disney costs at least $1000 a day and you get decals on your room’s walls and so so food. Something has to be done.

  2. I definitely agree with the dirtiness and as a cast member, part of the issue is the amount of work that is being piled on with the management in the cleaning fields.
Last year I was a house person at Pop Century. Before I started, which was before the pandemic, our job was to carry the trash and linen from the rooms the house keepers cleaned to the linen room, organize the linen room, mop and dust the hallways, and bring in the linen carts for 2 floors of 70 rooms.
When I started they added doing visual inspections ( a 20 second check of each occupied room) and stripping rooms ( removing the dirty linen and trash )for the house keepers while removing half a floor from our responsibility.
We quickly found we didn’t have enough time for everything and I was struggling to keep up. If I stripped rooms I didn’t have time to clean the floors (which got dirty very fast as it was outside) and then I stopped stripping rooms and got yelled at by the housekeepers and scolded by management.

As soon as I could I transferred. I don’t know about positions and other areas but the cast members might be facing similar issues.

  3. When I was a kid in the 80s, everyone who came back from a Disney vacation said two things: the parks were spotlessly pristine and the cast members were the nicest people they had ever met. And later in college in the 90s, two of my professors used Disney as examples of brand success noting that the Disney name was defined by cleanliness and friendliness…that the second anyone dropped anything it would be picked up and that they had maintenance scheduled so that even before a light would burn out they already replaced it.

So very clearly at the CEO level decisions were made to severely cut maintenance and cleaning. I also think the hiring and training of staff is not what it once was.

This reminds me of that saying about powerful families…where one generation builds the wealth, the next takes the family to its peak, and then the third generation squanders it all into a ruin like Grey Gardens.

Disney is in that third chapter of decline.

The only way it can be saved is if Apple buys it and demands a return to the cleanliness and friendliness of the past.

  4. When we were there in late October, we never got to ride Haunted Mansion because it was always down when we were at Magic Kingdom. We also didn't get to ride Remy's Ratatouille at Epcot, for the same reason. It was very disappointing and upsetting, considering how much we paid to visit the parks.

  5. That coffee shop looks ugly. it looks sterile like a doctors office. What ever happened to warm cozy coffee shop colors and ambiance. not to mention I thought the Board Walk area was supposed to be themed in "Turn of the Century Atlantic City". that would be early 1900's right? I am shocked to see photos of the boats and people mover being so dirty. Whatever happened to Disney having graveyard shift crews go in and maintance and clean? Years ago we went to Six Flags in Atlanta and I remember the park being dingy and telling my husband this is why I choose Disney every time, its clean, and now Disney has become no better than an "amusement park" which is very different than a "theme park". They need to get it together, because I see a huge shift in tourism once Epic Universe opens.

  6. I just got back from DW and it was filthy and smelled like a carnival. Service has downgraded for sure. Those pics explain why my mother in law got sick after Small world, and I got sick days later.

  7. I am related to Walt Disney not closely but enough we’re I am a big Disney fan, and just like Walt I like trains, and always have since being a little kid, I love the parks and the ideas that Walt had for Disney, it’s sad to see the way his company has turned into a political battleground for a one party agenda, putting bias beliefs and unauthentic beliefs and political standpoints against one’s Walt agreed with. The company thinks of themselves as a do whatever you want, be whatever you want company and something that is unauthentic to the real thing. The Walt Disney Company will probably not be the same since the last family member left the company, and left it in the hands of a corrupt company. This is some advice for the company from a fan and relative of Walt Disney, be less political and stop shoving agenda in our face thanks.

  8. OMG! Yes the maintenance report needs to happen. It's horrible. The amount of price increases are equal in the way the maintenance has slipped. The amount of rides broken… down… trash everywhere. Bathrooms in hideous condition. Audio missing on rides. Like why?

They probably hate passholders because they can see most of the issues right away. But honestly why charge these prices if things aren't up to par?

  9. Shameful, Disney used to be the standard other companies used to set their bar to. The whole of Disney seems to have lost their gold standard. We visited Disney Springs at Christmas time, trash cans were overflowing, areas were not well maintained and the toilet areas are less than acceptable. It just breaks my heart.

  10. So happy that a company that thrusted themselves into stupid political idiocy, INSTEAD of running the BEST THEME PARK GLOBALLY, is falling on their faces with their movies and parks, cleanliness and nickel and diming guests to the ends of the earth. All while providing some of the worst service Disney has ever shown. Go to Universal folks, they actually care about the guests.

  11. I worked at WDW in the early 80's. I worked in the Merchandise Division at the Emporium on Main Street, and worked at the Gateway Store under Spaceship Earth for the opening. During the busiest times of the year I worked overnight shifts in the MK and EPCOT restocking shelves and making sure everything looked perfect for the guests in the morning. I can remember Custodial pressure washing Main Street at least once a week. The windows were washed every night. Maintenance would be up and down Main Street touching up any paint and making sure everything worked. I remember the maintenance was over the top. An example is how all the light bulbs were changed on Main Street. Maintenance had a schedule and new how long the lights had burned and would actually replace the light bulbs before they burned out. Last trip to the park, I remember seeing quite a few light bulbs burnt out on Main Street. In the early 80's when the MK opened everything looked like brand new every day. Everything was clean. As an employee, if you saw a piece of paper on the ground, you picked it up and threw it away. There was a sense of pride in the park, and I felt like I was part of a family. We were paid a fair wage, and had some decent benefits, and they had retirement options.( I was also a Shop Stewart in the Union) When Eisner came on board, things started change. I felt like the bean counters took over. I remember seeing shot glasses and ashtrays being sold when Eisner came on. I know Walt or Roy would have hated that. WDW now is just a grift. Squeeze every dollar you can out of the guests, and squeeze as many guests into the parks as humanly possible. I have no intention of visiting the MK again. I visited Hershey Park in Hershey, PA. It looks like what Disney looked like 40 or 50 years ago. You can tell they take pride in their park. Sorry for ranting, but the photos of the nasty ride vehicles, and garbage laying around sent me over the top. lol

  12. My wife and I just got home from Disney last night. I have never seen any of the 4 parks so dirty!!!! We rode the monorail from The Grand Floridian and immediately noticed the stink. We immediately got off at Magic Kingdom and took a boat back to the Polynesian.
The lines, I understand that I’m there for the last few days of December and first few days of January and it’s a busy time. This was my 3rd time there during these dates and the lines were beyond insane.
We are looking at going on a Disney cruise for 2024-2025

  13. The filth is emblematic of the moral decay of Disney. The company is rotting from its leadership, culture and operation. This is not the Disney that Walt created. We’ve cut out Disney from our lives from canceling Disney+ to canceling and not planning anymore Disney vacations. Sad.

  14. I moved to China back in 2017. Been to both Shanghai and Hong Kong Disneyland. Although both parks are incredible in their own ways, I have constantly stated that WDW parks including Magic Kingdom trumps these (especially Shanghai considering they don't have really any of rhe “classic attractions”) After reading comments and watching videos explaining the condition of WDW, I can't admit to feel disappointed. Planning on moving back to the US later this year and I've been anticipating introducing my wife to WDW since she enjoys the theme parks in China. Sadly, it seems they aren't what I remember from years prior. (Last time I was in WDW or Universal Orlando was 2015.

On a positive note Shanghai Disneyland really is awesome, it just doesn't feel 100% like Disney. Hong Kong on the other hand, is smaller than Magic Kingdom (and Shanghai) but still has that charm we all know and love.

Going to HK Disneyland next week. Grateful they have some of the classics including Small World, Jungle Cruise and Space Mountain (themed to Star Wars! )

  15. Once again, if you want to know why, take a look at who is managing this company. THAT is why. You haven't seen anything yet.
Chapek was appointed by Iger. Now Iger is back. That won't work either. This is long overdue. It's time for a clean sweep with the RIGHT broom literally and figuratively.
There's a trend happening right now and in the end the consumer always wins. If you charge more and give less, you better be ready to watch your customer walk away until you pull your head out.

  16. WOW .. just WOW over the filth at WDW!! I'm SHOCKED. I haven't been in 25 yrs and that is something I always remembered about Disney is how clean it was. I'm just flabbergasted! Do they have NO STANDARDS anymore?!? Where do they get off charging these outrageous fees?!? From all I've seen after watching tons of WDW and resorts videos these last months is that it is going to hell in a handbag. (Why are they getting rid of theming in their hotels?) So very sad. Another American iconic brand going down due to capitalist greed.
