On 4/8/23, a high risk was issued for the state of Keysota with 7.6k cape being the main part of the risk. As the sun began to rise however, the sky was clear and the cape was already increasing. By midday, the cape had reached and peaked at 8,078 cape, with every other thermo overpreforming as well. This brought devastation across rural Keysota, including to Tenkiller as the first tornado of the day (a large wedge) slammed right into it at almost peak intensity. The next one, touching down in Keysota state forest, broke my own records for the largest and strongest tornado I’ve ever seen, including almost breaking the record for the highest recorded windspeeds. The next one would touch down near Funkley, heading south towards hibbing as this produced another huge monster of a tornado, with the windspeeds likely high before it began weakening and lifting over Hibbing. This outbreak was all around crazy and one of the most intense I’ve ever chased, with one tornado being rated EF5 220+ and the other being rated EF4 200+. Watch the video to see for yourself.
