The road to the town of Lahaina on the Hawaiian island of Maui has reopened as residents begin to survey the damage left over by wildfires that have claimed the lives of 80 people. NBC News’ Steve Patterson reports on the latest in the search for survivors.

What they're not saying about the hurricane warning system, is that it had recently gone off TWICE IN A ROW at the beginning of the month! They sent a text to apologize to everyone for it. It had never done that in the last 2 years I've been here. Strange that it then didn't go off when a real hurricane passed…

People that lived beyond Lahaina (kanapali, honokowai, kanaha, napili, kapalua, etc) have no power/water, they wanted to drive to kahului/wailuku to get water, food, and were told they could drive there but not allowed to return to their homes with the food/water!!! This is so wrong!!
So very, very sad and inexcusable that Maui County's elected officials were more concerned with filing lawsuits against fossil fuel companies over non-existent climate change impact and making time to make an official resolution supporting the Paris Climate Accord but had no concerns over and no desire to ensure Maui County had adequate fire mitigation and firefighting capabilities in place. Moral of the story is don't vote for climate alarmist liberals if you don't want to risk having your community totally destroyed and dozens and dozens of your neighbors unnecessarily killed.
